  • Ooooo. I love nicknaming my Pokemon. Although at times I'm not creative with them I do find creating them entertaining. Here are some of the names I made for my in-game team in Platinum.

    Empoleon- Misuzu
    Togekiss- Cootie
    Gliscor-Robin
    Frosslass- Princess
    Gardevoir- Diva

I mostly give simple names to my Pokemon or sometimes I give them a bit of a name that refer to the type like my Platinum team

    Apollo/Monferno
    Sparky/Luxio
    Storm/Starvia
    Cloud/Driftblum
    Tails/Buizel

  • I named by Buizel Tails too!! xD of course I think its probably a popular name for the litte critter. I don't usually nickname my Pokemon, only the ones that I try to have in my final team. Most of their names usually have a meaning behind them or have to do with the type of pokemon they are like some of mine are:

    Leader/Staraptor
    Tails/Buizel
    Sparkle/Pikachu
    Sparky/Pikachu with Volt Tackle
Alterio/Umbreon (has something to do with night I forget...)
Helaku/Espeon (has something to do with day I think)
    Dragon/Charizard
Ryu/Charmeleon (it means Dragon in Japanese ^_^)

And I have tons more...of course I ran into a person who named all their pokemon after food..really weird but funny

  • That really depends on my mood...

When I began playing Pokémon, I used the name of a Pokémon and modified it slightly.

Mudkip/Kippi. It's now a lv 100 Swampert, so "Kippi" sounds ridiclous.

Wingull/Winda. It's now a lv 100 Pelipper, but I still like the name.

Spheal/SEAL. Yeah, that nickname sucks XD

My current names are usually nouns.

    Charmander/Flare, for example.

Then I had a period with names that just sounded fitting.

    Seviper/Seiwe
    Zubat/Zede
    Vileplum/Noe

And then the "all girl team" period...

    Oddish/Miss Petal
    Wingull/Queen Sea
    Wingull/Lady Ocean

So it differs a lot xD

  • And now for even more of my Pokemon nicknames!

Well first of all, I mentioned in my last post that I have a bunch of Harry Potter-themed Pokemon nicknames. Right now, I'm also in the slow process of building a list of Lord of the Rings-themed nicknames as well. So far I have:
Sableye: Gollum (mentioned in my last post)
    Registeel: Mithril
Ponyta: Shadowfax (will make more sense when he becomes a Rapidash)
    Torterra: Bombadil (previously named Pangaia...)
    Gabite: Moria
Charizard: Smaug (Actually, Smaug's from The Hobbit, but close enough...)
I'll add to this list once I start catching the legendaries... especially Giratina, Heatran, and the psychic trio, and maybe Dialga as well. I know exactly what to name them. ^_^

    Other nicknames:

    Cherubi: Jubilee
    Monferno: Imp
    Luxio: Electra
    Gardevoir: Guinevere
    Gallade: Arthur
    Xatu: Shaman
    Mightyena: Ohkami (Japanese for wolf)
Seviper: Slytherin (I guess I'm still working on the Harry Potter theme)
    Floatzel: Weasley (Likewise)
    Bronzor: Ferrum (Latin for iron)
Teddiursa: Princess (because the "Hime" part of its Japanese name means "princess")
    Milotic: Dreamboat
    Relicanth: Granny
    Lanturn: Lumiere (French for light)
    Hypno: Mesmeria
    Vaporeon: Triton
    Jolteon: Static
    Flareon: Foxy
    Espeon: Akamaru
    Umbreon: Black Cat
    Leafeon: Leif
    Glaceon: Jackfrost
    Rotom: Robomaster
    Aipom: Dexter

  • i find when i am trading, pokemon with nicknames dont trade as well as one without
as alot of people like them to be UT, mainly on shinys, events, etc...
so i keep all mine without nicknames, as i think it ruins there value if at some point i want to trade them.

  • Pokemon nickname request/showoff thread

My current pokemon that are nicknamed are....

    Porygon-Z: Skype
Typhlosion: Chase (This was the nickname it had when I got it in a trade so I might as well stick with it)

Right now I'm having trouble nicknaming my Rotom (Lawn mower form) I was thinking of nicknaming it "Hacker" but I think people would get the wrong impression about it :p

  • You wouldn't be able to change Chase's name anyway because it's from a trade. As for Mower Rotom:

    Motor
    Sawyer
    Rayzr/Razor

  • Acutally I had to do some rebreeding so it would be a mild nature :p I still decided to keep its name as chase anyways. It sounds cool.

  • For Rotom? "Poltrguyst" sounds cool, but is independent of form...

For mower form specifically, I'd go with "Blak&Deckr" XD

Make it something funny, like "iEatGrass".

Anyway, my Pokemon nicknames make no sense at all...

Pidgeot- "Wingo Starr" (After Ringo Starr)
Cloyster- "Auroracorn" (Aurora Beam + That horn on his head)

AND THE STUPIDEST ONE OF THEM ALL...

Arcanine- "Fog" (Combination of the words "Fire" and "Dog")
