What should Gamefreak bring back/Improve upon?

Yes. When HGSS came out, I was immediately sold when I knew Pokemon would be literally following me in the overworld. That was one option they did not develop in further generations though. It was awesome.
 
Have your Pokemon follow behind you, this was so cute
Secret Basses, it reminds me of Tinier Me.
