3rd Gen What the....?

    Ok, I am at the 3rd Gym in LG and (yes I am using a walkthrough, but only to get the maximum amount of experience) the walkthrough says to check the sign for your fame checker (which I think is pointless). I read the sign and it says "Lt. Surge: The Lightning American". My question is, is that only in the american version of the game of did Nintendo mean to put it there?
