I'm making a pokemon fan game. It's going to be a fighting game, very similar to street fighter, tekken, or type wild. But to make it different from pokken tournament, I want to make the fighters be of the same type to make it have a theme of some sorts, but still have some variety. My original idea was to go with bug types, but now that I'm contemplating it more, I think there are some other types that would fit a fighting game better. I want to make this game so people can enjoy it. So I want to ask the people I hope will play it someday, what pokemon type do you think would best help make a unique and fun pokemon fighting game? Should I stick with bug, or switch to a different type like fighting or flying?

I think fighting makes the most sense and requires the least amount of creative thinking hehe. Maybe steel types? Scizor, Metagross and Aggron are all easy enough to animate, I'd guess.

Well, how many Pokémon are you planning to include?

Pokémon that can run, jump, punch, kick, block, etc. in a traditional fashion would be normally more suitable for a fighting game than a bird, or an object-based Pokémon, and the Fighting type provides a great variety of Pokémon and different martial arts or fighting styles to choose from.

If you choose other types there should be options, but probably not so many. Just pick a type that has enough Pokémon with arms and legs unless you specifically want to create a quadruped, bird, fish, etc. fighting game.

Thank you for the advice, I am thinking of using some quadrupedal pokemon in my game to make it more interesting.
