I always call him Silver, since my thats my Best Friend's name.

i just use one of the default names because making a custom one might make me change my mind if I don't like it later on.

Never bother naming the rival. I used one of the default names. Not sure which one though.

I named him Pearl, because i play Diamond, and i almost always name my rival after the opposing version.

I called him 'Stalker' cos i chose girl character (guys look weird in D/P) and the rival looks slightly pervy and anyway he's always literally bumping into me so it suits him

which is my brothers name so I thought me and my brother battle each other every now and then but in the end we are always best friends and always helping each other :D

I always name my rival (in any of the pokemon games) Josh.

Josh happens to be my best friend in IRL but he never got into pokemon, so this was my way of forcing him into my game. >=]
