Whatever happened to Gary Oak?

    So like I've said a couple of times before, it's been a while since I watched the anime series and I've been wondering what happened to Gary Oak? I never saw much of him after "Gotta Catch 'Em All!" and he never even showed up in the theatrical movies. Was there an episode that explained what became of him, and does he ever occur in the series again?
     
    Yeah, at the end of the Johto arc he decides to become a Pokemon researcher in his grandfather's footsteps, which is gone into a bit more in Pokemon Chronicles (side stories). He most recently reappeared at the end of the Battle Frontier arc to battle Ash, then announce his trip to Sinnoh, helping to set the stage for the next season.
     
    I really hope to see Gary there. Probably more often then he showed up in Johto, I'll like to see him when Ash gets his 4th or 5th badge

    Gary will probably reappear from time to time in the D/P anime. We haven't seen him yet, but seeing as he was going to Shinou....

    So does this mean the rivalry dispute between him and Ash was resolved once and for all?

    I believe their rivalry was solved and that Gary acknowledged Ash after the Johto League, as Ash beat Gary in a 6 on 6 battle in the tournament.

    Ash has a new rival in Shinou though...
     
    I see; thanks for the info. =) I still think Gary should have had a few special appearances in the movies, but.. guess he was just too cool for the big screen.
