Looking to get into the hobby of the Pokemon cards. Before or if I do that, I have a few questions.

    1. How is the fan base of the card game? I don't really want to join something that's slowly dying or isn't active.

    2. Are the old/original Pokemon cards un-usable now?

    3. Good set of Pokemon cards to start of with?

    In order of your questions:

    1. It depends on where you are, but it's quite active in most places here in the States. Not a clue on how it is in Australia, though.

    2. Pretty much, yeah. Only cards that have been reprinted in a currently legal set are allowed at tournaments.

    3. The three most recent sets are probably the best to start with, those being Boundaries Crossed, Dragons Exalted, and Dragon Vault.

Thanks! And ah, I thought something like that would be a problem. So how far back is that going? like, all the cards from say 2005 and back are un-usable?

And I'll try and go to a local store and see if they've got it, if not I know some stores like Big W or K-mart or Toys'r'us will defiantly have them.
