As you were completing the main story in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, when did you feel that the time was right to upgrade? Did you hold off to strengthen your team? Did you go for it right away? Did you not bother to get it at all?

Personally, I have completed the Sinnoh Dex, seeing all 210 Pokemon in Platinum. However I am holding off of it, training my team with the Elite 4, until they are at least Level 70 and above. Then I will proceed to the Fight, Survival, Resort Areas, and Stark Mountain. Some of the main reasons why I will get the National Dex soon, would be the chance of getting a Lucky Egg from the Chansey's at Trophy Garden, making training faster for my Pokemon. Do you think getting the National Dex is worth it?

Looking forward to seeing some opinions and/or discussion. :)

I mean it's not any different from having the Sinnoh Dex, except you can see more pokés. There's no reason to not get it.

Oh, Post-Script (haha I'm a nerd): You can find Chanseys on Route 210.

I usually go on with the National Dex, as I can get more Pokémons and then re-build my team, because I never stay with my Elite4 team. And I don't see any point on training to a high level and then go to Stark Mountain, as levels there are 50/60s.

Well, when I first completed my Sinnoh Dex on my first playthrough on Diamond, I certainly went to Professor Rowan's lab in order to get an upgrade. Since I took about a 3 year break from Pokemon, I was excited to see some familiar faces in the post-National Dex portion of the game.

I got my National Dex like very soon after the game came out. I just get bored and start over often.

Like, straight away. @_@. I thought you had too. Dx.

I make sure I see every Pokemon i can before the E4 and then I beat them to see the remaining.

Before i reset i just got it right away but when i see all 210 pokemon im going to hold it off untill my main team is like on 65

I got it as soon as i could. Took me ages to beat the pokemon league, can hardly beat it now and all my pokémon are lvl 70-80

I just get it right away after seeing all the pokemon required to get it.

When i first got my Diamond on the release date, i think i got the National Dex three months? after.

As soon as I could. In Diamond, I think I only needed one more after beating Cynthia, and that was Palkia, so it didn't take long. It must've been a few days after first getting the game, as it took me four days to beat the game. I had a few more missing in Platinum - Manaphy, the Lake Trio etc.

I just get it. Stalling or getting it right away doesn't change anything for me.

In Diamond, I waited and trained my team to good levels to compete with the E4 and then got the national pokedex. In Platinum however, I just went for it. Didn't feel like waiting again lol.
