I'm new to this pokemon speculation, as I got back into pokemon after X and Y released (and ORAS was a remake). How long is there in between the starters being shown and their evos being shown?

There's no real set time span really. Black and White was about two to three months after iirc. These sort of things can't fit into a pattern simply because it's a 'leak'. Leaks can happen anytime, they also don't necessarily have to happen at all. Best thing to do is to enjoy the information that Pokémon itself chooses to share and be wary of possible leaks. Within six months literally anything can happen so just enjoy the ride. :)

As our Nica said above, it's unpredictable because a leak is unpredictable. But I remember, with the middle evolutions of the Kalos starters they were officially revealed a month before X/Y came out.

Knowing me, if that's anything to go by I'll likely expect starter evolutions, at least the middle ones, in September or October.

So basically we won't get them until the game releases (unless it is unofficially leaked)? that's disapointing.

    ^ Second this one.

We usually wait a few months for the middle stages to be revealed, at least in CoroCoro, and most of the time it's usually the issue that releases in the month before the games come out. Final stages usually don't get officially revealed until after the games are released, so it's more of a method to discover them yourself.

Yeah sorry, not too many Pokémon get released before the games are out. Usually starters, legendaries, a few first stage Pokémon and a Zoroark-like Pokémon. Occasionally some second in the evolutionary line get released but other than leaks it's limited.

So over the next few months were probably only going to get around 20.
