    I am new to pokemon and watching a lot of episodes online. I am up to season 6 but I was wondering where team rocket got their pokemon originally like Ekans/arbok, wheezing, Wubat, carnivive and seviper?
    Thanks

    Gee, I dunno. Maybe they caught them? Wait no, thats too absurd. Maybe they made a trail of candy that lead to a pull the string box trap and now they just pretend that they are in Poke-balls.

    Actually, they just caught them. You see, even though they are cruel they have to catch the Pokemon. Softly caught or roughly caught, either way that's how they caught them. Maybe they got the Pokemon as a birthday present when they were smaller. Maybe they helped the Pokemon, for example James caught his Woobat by giving him food while he(the Woobat) was very hungry. Even evil team members have to be kind while catching Pokemon. Or they just did it the Pokemon Trainer way; beat them up with Pokemon, nearly make them faint, catch with Pokeball, catch Pokemon, build relationship with Pokemon, Muffins?, and new Team Rocket Pokemon.

    They're given to them, not all of them. But Ekans and Koffing must have been. If you've played most of the games a lot of the grunts explain they're Pokemon has just been given to them and that they got them taken off them if they fail. (The latter must have been removed in the anime) However; those were the only Pokemon given to them by Team Rocket. All the other Pokemon they've owned has been caught/already had.

    Jessie got Ekans as a birthday present. James got Koffing as a Christmas gift; he also rescued Carnivine from being trapped in the Great Marsh. The rest of their Pokemon were caught in the wild (except for Wobbuffet, who was traded for Jessie's Lickitung and Yanmega, who was stolen from the trainer who caught it as Yanma).

    Ugh, I totally forgot about those. );

    It wasn't actually stolen, as they've not ever gotten away with stealing a Pokémon. It was weakened by another trainer that wanted it- but Jessie quickly caught it with her own Poké Ball instead. :3 The episode was titled "The Thief That Keeps on Thieving!"

    Yeah, I remember that one. It looked like stealing to me because Tyler weakened it himself, then Jessie "stole" his capture with her own Poke Ball. But that's just me.

    I know people have already answered this,but this is more info about all their main pokemon

    Ekans and Koffing were both presents from their parents. Jessie caught a Likatung in the orginal series when it ate their food. Meowth just joined them and he is own. Neather of them own him.

    Iceman: You are wrong about the Isshu ones.
    Jessie caught Koromori in the cave with lots of Koromoris and James caught Desmas when they were planning another plan and Desmas joined them because it was hungry. James gave it food and Desmas joined him (as most James' Pokémon :)).
    It wasn't off screen ;)
