Where do you stand on Israel?

What are your thoughts about the current status of Israel; Zionism; their actions; those who support/oppose their actions and ultimately, what do you think should be the future for the state?

I don't assume a priori that there should be either a Jewish state or a Palestinian state - neither option is somehow self-evident. For me, the bottom line is that there has to be peace amongst the people in the region. Regardless of the historical right for Israel to exist, there is a humanitarian crisis in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and that has to be dealt with. I don't think nationalism should trump poverty and human suffering in the occupied territories.

This is a tough subject, to be honest...
There are many variations of what happened, and it seems each media or group is trying to twist the past to their ideology. There are facts, and many of them are not aligned with the same mindset, but this is how the world is built, and we have to try and see them all clear.

There are many foul actions the Israeli government has done, but there are also many fouls in the Palestinian government side. The citizens of Gaza did elect a terror organization, which now terrorize them as well as the Israeli side; for a long time and especially as of late, many Palestinians are committing terror actions against innocent citizens.

For the past 20 years, there is a right winged government in Israel, and it got more and more radical by the years.
Right now there is a cleft(trying to find the right word) between many of the citizens: Jewish and Muslim, religious and non religious, left wing and right wing, dog lovers and cat lovers, and it is getting bigger and bigger each day.

There are many wrongs, and not a single side is pure and right, but there are things beyond just this issue. The whole world is now in a very fragile state, many after shocks of events that happened years ago are starting to show up. Trying to accuse or condemn a single country is one thing we must not do, as a global community, for if we do, we will never transcend this state and forever be in turmoils.

Most Israelis and Palestinians don't seem to be able to get along so the "two state solution" I hear about in the news seems the most practical solution. Like, permanent borders and no take backsies. But it seems impossible because the conflict has been going on so long that everyone has a family member or neighbor or knows someone who died or who can trace back their history to a place that someone from the other side now lives in. It's like divorcing parents arguing over who should get custody.
