Where does the meat come from?

Think about it. In Pokemon, where do the trainers get their meat from? People are slaughtering Pokemon for meat. That beef that Ash's mom puts on the table.

    Miltank!

    Milk?

    Miltank!

Lies. The meat is actually tofu.
And the milk has already been confirmed to have originated from Miltank.

There is already a thread like this.
    Everywhere.

Meat comes from Tauros, "everyone" knows that.
I mean, it's not called "cow meat" in stores, right? :D

Yeah because everyone in Pokemon is a vegetarian right?

What if one just got the urge for some real meat. Would he become a mass Pokemom murderer just to satisfy his craving?

I think I remember seeing a fish tank containing real fish, not Pokemon. It was in the Cerulean City episode, back in the day, with Misty and her sisters. That could hint that there are actual animals in the Pokemon World. Maybe that's where it comes from. Then again, it could be tofu. >_<

It's meat from naturally deceased pokémon, obviously. I mean, these are critters who spend their lives beating the living daylights out of each other; fatalities are bound to happen en masse. 8D

For a bit of a less morbid idea: yeah, it's possible for regular animals to exist in the world somewhere, though I'd hardly vouch for using the anime as a source for anything because it's just that messed up. Also, it has been confirmed that people do indeed eat pokémon (remember the little slowpoke tail thing in G/S/C?). Yeah. I'm thinking that that's just an aspect not usually highlighted in canon material...for obvious reasons. :x

Plus, do keep in mind that the pokéverse society is based on Japan, where people make do with a lot less meat than they do in western countries.

Yeah! I agree with you! I saw the fishbowl (I have that episode), too! I think when Ash enters Viridian Forest there are gnats flying around him! I think there are real animals. Ugh, tofu everyday...=(

Well, seeing as this is in Pokemon General, don't rule out the premise in which the manga sets. Pokemon do die and are slaughtered (along with a few unfortunate humans too) and based on that, I'd assume killing them for produce isn't out of the question.

I'm sure there are farmers who raise Miltank and all manner of other pokemon for such purposes. They are the substitutes for animals.

But this is probably due to the lack of pokemon that resemble real-day animals back then.
I mean, when was the last time you saw an animal in the poke-world apart from the first season?

Have I heard right? You mean to say that the fish and beef comes from a "double-dead" Miltank and Magikarp? You must be kidding! You know that double-dead animals or shall we say pokemon already contains toxins that form after it died. It cannot be eaten anymore!

    here-here!

After the Indigo League, all traces of RL Animals disappeared.

The Videogames, which are the TRUE canon, have no RL Animals. So we can all safely assume they eat Pokemon.

I thought one of the earlier games did mention animals... Oh, I don't know.

However the meat probably comes from Miltank, etc.
The games just don't go into things like that because it isn't important.

    Ha, true that, too true.

The meat in the Pokemon world obviously comes from the flesh and blood of Pokemon, just it's a show aired with a younger audience in mind, so details like that are omitted.
Oh how many times that has been said on this forum... It's easy to fill in gaps like this yourself, really.

It's a good thing Sharpedo Fin Soup is illegal in most parts of the world. (It's been rumored it's still legal in the Sevii Islands)
