    Hey there ho there!

I new to the Pokemon Universe and I was wanting to get into collecting the cards. Now, this sound like a really dumb question, but, besides the current edition, do you all have any suggestions on which sets or packs I should get to buying. I am looking for the most bang for my bucks so any and all help will be welcomed.

One big question: Are you looking just to collect or do you also want to play competitively?

On a side note, I've gone ahead and moved your thread to the appropriate part of the forum, to ensure your thread gets the attention it needs.

I am just looking to collect at the moment. Sorry about posting in the wrong part of the forums.

I see. Then, the most fun set to collect in recent memory that's still easily obtainable is Legendary Treasures. Ultra rares from it aren't worth as much, but that's because there are a ton of them and it feels like you're getting the ultra rares every 5 packs, haha. It's actually also got a mini set within it called Radiant Collection which has its own set numbering and everything, and the Legendary Treasures packs are structured as follows: 4 Commons, 2 Uncommons, 1 reverse holo of any of the 3 normal rarities (common, uncommon, and rare are the 3 most basic rarities), 1 rare of any kind (at least, from the Legendary Treasures portion of the set), and 2 Radiant Collection cards of any kind.

Also, are you more into re-living the nostalgia from your past or are you content with actually being able to afford to buy more than one pack a week (older sets can get pretty expensive to collect)?

No big deal on posting in the wrong part of the forum.

Okay, thanks for your help. I will look around Ebay and see what I can find. I am also looking on trollandtoad.com and I was surprised: Pokemon TGC are a lot more affordable than I though. I use to play Magic and MAN those were expensive cards. Thanks again for your help!

Well, Magic has a bigger competitive scene and also a broader appeal among adults since it doesn't use cartoony artwork like Pokemon does, and is not seen as something for kids, unlike Pokemon, which is seen as something for kids by a large segment of the general population.

You can probably still find Legendary Treasures in stock at any big-box retailer like Wal-Mart. Until early August, Legendary Treasures is the 3rd most recently released set, which means most big-box retailers will still be carrying it (they usually carry packs from the last 4 sets released).

I actually went to good ole Wally world today and got 8 booster packs. (2-3 of them were LT) You were right; they're pretty okay!
