Anyone know where the heck Ash's dad is? I read the lyrics of this one song that said Ash's mom had something happen to her a long time ago, and how she can never tell him what happened. Maybe his dad died on a pokemon journey?? :\

Ash's dad is like the GS ball; No one knows what happened to him/it, and the writers couldn't care less. The only difference was the GS ball was an advertisement of sorts, as well as an irrelevant game reference.

To Kine: Cliche #1 about Anime: Nothing is left hanging! Ever!! Every question WILL be answered in the series, whether the viewers like the answer, or not. As for the GS Ball, it started out as an Advertisement for GS, but if that's ALL it was meant for, why does Ash still have it in Hoenn??

Regarding Ash's Dad: There are many theories about his identity. Most people in PC seem to think that the original character, Red from the GB games is Ash's father. This CANNOT be true! Otherwise, why would Ash be a selectable name? Just like Gary is selectable in Blue. You can check the opening to the games if you want; they'll be there.

My theory is that Ash has already SEEN his father once or twice. I believe it's Giovanni. The reason that he doesn't recognize Ash is because he left Mom while she was pregnant. In order to reinforce my claim, let me bring up a little history of Giovanni's actions.

In his own words, he says that he flopped as a Pokemon Trainer, and decided to form Team Rocket instead. Fast forward a few years, and he had his scientists clone MewTwo. He, in turn, destroys the lab that he was born in, without realizing that he was originally a Human.

A few years later, one of his scientists that survived the Cinnibar incident that resulted from MewTwo goes out and tries to capture Lugia. Pokemon 2000 shows a picture of Mew at the end of the movie, so people that saw the First Movie were like, "Ahh! He was one of the SCIENTISTS!". I still don't know why he says that that was how it began and how it will begin again; I think we haven't seen the last of that guy.

Pokemon 3 is irrelevant in this Giovanni theory, so I'll skip it here.

Some time between Pokemon 3 and Pokemon 4-Ever, Giovanni finds MewTwo. He tries to force the Pokemon to give him his Psychic Energy, to transfer to a new Pokemon that Giovanni is starting to create, or something; they didn't really clarify, but this was my assumption. Anyway, Ash and Giovanni meet face to face, and Giovanni doesn't know him. Duh! He went on his Journey before Ash was born, so of course he's never met his own son, and thus, Ash doesn't know him, because his Master Trainer Dad would NEVER do the unspeakable things that Giovanni would do!!

In Pokemon 4-Ever, Neo Team Rocket shows up and I think the guy from 2000 is the head. That's why they are STILL looking for the Legendaries. Pokemon Heroes also has NTR in it, just two that don't have masks.

I originally saw a scene with Giovanni in his office and a picture of Ash's Mom in the background on one of the banned Kanto Episodes that aired on CN once. Sadly, I can't seem to find it on the Internet, and I don't have the capability of uploading it from a DVD. If I ever can, I'll put it on this post, I swear! Until then, rest assured knowing that the episode is STILL shown on CN every time they cycle through the Kanto Saga, so if you watch it enough, chances are you'll see it.

Do not fear, though. I have a feeling that this is going to come into light sometime within the next saga or two. After all, in the games, Giovanni turns good at the end...

Pokemon Heroes has 2 of the greatest thieves. They were not part of Team Rocket in the original verision. They are Rocket Members only by the dub.

Many Possibliltys about who ashs dad is but i think its Professor oak as they have always seemed close when they are together and they know alot about each others lives

but if you think about it couldnt be giovanni as ash's hair must be the same colour as his fathers because his moms is brown maybe oaks hair use to be black

    Now we get into Genetics?
Well, here`s a funny story...My brother has black hair, and my hair is brown. My mothers hair is a dark red colour, and my father has blonde.
Sometimes, hair colour is completely random. Or whas that eye colour? I can`t remember. I think it was hair...Meh.
As for the Professor Oak thing...Of course him and Ash are close and know a lot about eachother...Hasn`t As known him like, forever? Or was that in the games? Gah, I can`t think today, `cause I`m sick... :|

hahahhaha prof oak and ashes mom you have got be kiddin me hes like 12642364 years old and shes like 30...

Professor Oak is like a Father figure to Ash, due to the fact that he looks up to the guy. Why not? His REAL Father was never around, so who else could he look up to for advice?

Giovanni could have dyed his hair brown, you know. Also, hair color has nothing to do with it. Plus, Giovanni is the ONLY one close enough to Ash's Mom's age to be a match anyway...

    My thoeries
He's dead and the people in japan dont think for there four year old populous death should be introduced (that would be our seven year old populous)

In the bell tower as Ho-oh. Wild thoerie but meh possible

Ooikido-Hasake. I dont think it's true but it very well could be. Hanako and Ooikido are very close.

    Giovanni: unlikley in my opinion.

Random Dude: I think so :3

Just to clarify. If he was actually dead, they would have probably at least brought it up by now. You see, Japan has never had a real problem with death. There's death and killing in Anime all the time! Plus, didn't Jirachi kill that Groudon-esque creature in the last Movie??? Also, didn't the original Latios bite the big one in the 5th Movie? My point, if he was dead, Ash would've found out about it by now, unless they're saving that for a grand finale, which they might be. Point is, they would have, or will undoubtedly bring it up, regardless of the age of the audience.

As for Giovanni being unlikely, that's why it might turn out to be the truth. Usually they have huge twists in Anime, and that would be no exception.

I was wondering the same thing but never thought to to post about it XD,I don't know, and i have no clue as who to point fingers at XD.

    I agree with the theory that it's Giovanni. I hope they will explain things about Ash's father in the anime, no matter who it is, but I also hope they decide it is Gio. The Star Wars twist is always good. XD;

I never thought about it being Giovanni... It can't be prof. oak, he was that guy Sam from the 4th movie, and he's with Ash's mom now, isn't he?

omg..... i dont think ash's dad is dead...in one of the begining episodes ash's mom talked about the dad (saying that he went out on a pokemon journey) and she wasnt sad at all, unless he died during his journey.....

thats what I was thinking, that he died in his journey... when does she say anything about his dad??
