6th Gen Which 6 types are essential to a party?

    Hello!

    I havent played pokemon since "Pokemon Diamond" so I'm pretty out of date with it all. But now that seeing gamefreak finally decides to make a big change I am really excited for it and will be getting Pokemon Y.
    I was just wondering what the 6 essential pokemon types I should be rolling with. I know there's all these double up types like fire/flying or normal/psychic etc etc, so that makes it even more confusing for me and dont know what to pick. Can anyone suggest some types for a newbie like me? And maybe explain why they might be good?

    It just depends on what suits you best, and of course what challenges are in-game. For now the Gym Leader types haven't officially been released, but I know many people tailor a team around making it easier to defeating the gym leaders. I guess if you're going for that then you'll have to wait until the 12th to formulate a team.

    I personally just go with the Pokémon that I like the look of, but a team consisting of i.e Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Psychic and Flying is always a nice helpful mixture. Either way, it's your choice but unfortunately this doesn't really warrant it's own thread as it is a general question, hope this helped you out though!
