Everyone is saying Heracross and Scizor because they are the only worthwhile Bug-types. Even Ninjask and Shedinja, as overrated as they are, are better than Pinsir, and MUCH better than Beautifly, Dustox, Butterfree, Beedrill, Araidos, and Ledian, for that matter. Wow, that is a lot of crappy Pokes right there.

As for Beautifly vs. Dustox, if you are only concerned by looks then Beautifly wins. If you are concerned about playability, Dustox wins.
 
simple its a clear win for beautifly, just think its got beauty and most of all its has one of my most favourite moves silver wind.
 
Beautifly, even though the type advantage goes to Dustox, Beautifly learns moves that would KO a Dustox in 1 or 2 hits.
 
You forget that Dustox also learns Aerial Ace, has better Def, can KO Beautifly in 1 or 2 hits, and most important has equal speed. That means it has 50% chance to go first. They are both bad Pokes though, the only crappier Bug Poke in the game is Shuckle. Use them at your own demise.

Meh, Shuckle has the highest defence, (which would do zitch) ...

I quite agree with that. Shuckle can't even do a decent attack. (IMO)
 
The low attacks (both a pathetic base 10) aren't what make Shuckle a crappy Poke. It is the pathetic HP, which is a base 20 (only Shedinja and Diglett have lower), that ruins Shuckle. Keep in mind that a Surf from Milotic will still do max damage of 62% to a perfect IV/max EV/+SDef nature Shuckle, and a Return from Slaking still does max damage of 21% to that same Shuckle, a type it is supposed to resist. Speaking of resistances, Shuckle only has two - Normal and Poison.

Why do you even want to use either? They both suck and won't do anything. There are better Bug-types in Heracross and Scizor; there are better Poison-types in Weezing and Muk; there are better Flying-types in...every other Flying-type, bar a select few.

So unless you side with lt.bob over here, don't use either Dustox or Beautifly, ever.
 
I go with scither much beter for you but anyway if you like one go ahead its your choice.

I personally don't like Dustox much, so my preference out of those two would be Beautifly. However Beautifly is far from my favourite of the bug types.

My favourite bug type pokemon are definally Scyther followed closely by Heracross
 
The answer here depends on which kind of event you want to use them for. Beautifly and Dustox are pretty even but I like Beautifly better because its more pretty but for attacks, Dustox has some major Psychic attacks early compared to Beautifly. But Beautifly's attacks also have some grass elements so it really depends on what situation you want them in. I just choose Beautifly all the time unless my Wurmple becomes a Cascoon.
