Taking a look at the history of pokemon through Gens 1-6, we do get to play as a handful of protagonists! But that's not all, we also get to play as a handful of protagonists from the spin-off games too. Usually in the main series of pokemon games we play as 10 year olds (or around that), while in Black and White, we play as older people. Now, just taking a look at them:

    Main Pokemon Games

There are also of course the pokemon mystery dungeon games, where you play as a selection of pokemon (mainly starters), so, if you wanna count that, you can! At any rate, Which protagonist(s) were your favourite to play out of the bunch here? Why?

Hilda i feel her design stands out the most out of everyones.

For the other gens i guess
    1: Red
    2: Ethan
3:may(but she`s not that great, i only pick her because brendan isn`t great either)
    4:lucas(dat scarf)
5.2: Nate, donutlockes is cool as well, but i like pineapple better.
6:Calem, finally a boy who does not look like red.

My fav is the original Gold , silver and Kris(tal)

I also like the female d/p/pt character

    so 1) G/S/C
    2)Ruby
    3 )Red
    4)Pearl(f)
    5the rest.
last The tcg character. I named him Dork. lol

Gold/Ethan and Brenden of Johto and Hoenn have always been my favorite two. I love their designs, and they are both from my favorite two regions. I also like Lucas and Dawn from Diamond and Peal too.

Leaf FTW. Hers is a character design that I've adored since first seeing it in Nintendo Power previews.

Though Serena comes in a close second with her standard outfit, and vaults into first place with customization options.

The only male protagonist I've actually liked is Wes. The rest are bland and look alike save for one, and that one actually looks worse than all the bland look-alike male protagonists.

I've always really loved Leaf. Probably since shes loosely based on Blue/Green (WHICHEVER) who I love so much. For starters I think her design is really cute. She's a little girl with silly fashion sense and that's endearing (I think it's the socks honestly.) Also I will argue to my death that she has the best hat out of all the protags.

On top of my list, May and Brendan would have to be two of my most favorites, I would say.

Hoenn is my most favorite region out there, so my response might be a little biased here, but there are also special reasons as to why I like them. First and foremost is, their designs seem to be rather different than past and future protagonists. Generally, all heroes and heroines do carry features such as hats, and while they do the same as well, it's more tough to identify these things (for a while, I didn't know that Brendan was wearing a hat; I thought his hair was naturally white).

Aside from these two, I'm also a pretty huge fan of Red. He's our hero in first-generation games, and on top of this, he also plays some big role in generation two, as he was considered to be one of the region's most tough trainers and whatnot; we got to face him as one of our final challenges at top of Mountain Silver.
