4th Gen Who thinks the characters talk too much?

I don't mind a lot of talking in the games. I would rather the game take a long time to finish. I'm purposely holding out on the Survival Area and Stark Mountain just to make it seem like my game is taking longer. Haha that might sound kinda weird to most players, but it makes it a bit more fun if you ask me. I always have something to look forward to. I also haven't been all the way up Route 224 yet.

I hope they really revamp the speed at which battling goes though. The thing I hate the most is that every time you encounter a wild Pokemon, you send out your Pokemon. I would much rather it just be like..

Wild Zubat appeared! What will (player) do?
and then you'd get the regular options of sending out a Pokemon, using an item, or running.

Now, as for sending out a Pokemon, you should be able to choose which one, not just the first one in your party. Of course, this would almost always give you the advantage, but it's not like you HAVE to do it.

I honestly think that would save about 5 seconds a battle, and when you play the game for a year or more, I know 5 seconds helps.

The battle messages are the things that annoy me the most, the characters talking in the story I can brush off easy, but in WiFi battles when the messages are even SLOWWWEEERRRRRR, it tempts me to just run from the WiFi battles and call it quits.

Anyone else notice how ridiculously long it takes to trade Pokemon? Like, GOD!!! SPEED UP THAT CUTSCENE!!!

Speed text option is your friend.I dont care if they talk too much I simply just skip it by pressing A repeatedly.

EDIT:

I noticed. They should make it shorter, but I just simply dont care.

I hate talking to characters don't tell you anything useful/interesting. It's just blah.

I'll provide some examples:

"We're on constant patrol. It's safe here, even at night."
"Yup, a kid like you should be running around outside, rain or shine."
"Fishing and battling are delicate things--as am I. Is that wrong?"
"I want to show off my pretty parasol, but it will get dirty in the rain. Oh, such a big dilemma!"
"You've been to the Great Marsh? How about the Pokemon Mansion? Wherever I go, I get to meet new and different Pokemon. I feel so privileged and happy about that."
"Here where I'm standing, I'm smack-dab in the middle of town."

Music I dislike: Celestic town theme, Pastoria theme, Eterna City theme, battle music, Solaceon theme, Twinleaf town theme, Sandgem town, bicycle theme, Route 222 theme, Survival area.

Wow, I dislike a lot of music in Dppt. :(

I also find the bog annoying. As well as how long it takes to make a battle begin and how it says "it is raining." I can tell that is indeed raining. I don't need to read it 10 ten times. Ugh.

To add to that, in Pokemon Mansion: Mr. Backlot's whole speech makes me want to nail him nice and hard in between his eyes.

This. I hate that man. He just chats some crap.

Yeah, Backlot is the only person I can't stand to talk to. I just want to know what pokemon he's going to have his butler put into the garden today! I'm envious! Shut up already!

I wouldn't mind the first time he asks me if I'm jealous, but after that I don't give a crap. I just hammer the A button till I miss what pokemon he's lying his sorry ass about.

It is pretty bothersome to hear him say the same things over and over again after you beat the Elite Four. The only different word he says is the name of the pokémon that is in the Trophy Garden I believe.
Some of the people in the game just talk to you too much in my conjecture. Perhaps if Nintendo could have shortened up the people in the game's words, it would have been much more better. However, that is just my opinion on that.
Though I didn't find it to be a huge drag in the game and I got used to it a little after I got the game.

I actually enjoy the increased level of speech. I find it adds more to the story, and didn't find it excessive at all - I thought they'd struck the right balance for the most part. Although, I do admit that certainly some characters do talk a bit too much.

It depends. Sometimes, a longer speech is a good thing, but excess (such as Backlot, as many of you have provided in your examples) can be a bit annoying.

I always thought one cool feature of the game would be if more NPC's recognized you. Let's say you visited the Eterna City Pokemon Center. The next time you go it would be cool if, instead of the same old speech from Nurse Joy, she just said (for instance) "Good morning (player), would you like us to heal your Pokemon?"

The same can be said for so many other characters..the two berry people, Mr. Backlot, Solaceon Daycare couple, and of course NPC trainers.

I think it would also be cool if other NPC's recognized your progress through the game. I can't stand the fact that you're the Pokemon League Champion, yet it seems that no one knows.

As a matter of fact, I'm all for more dialogue in the games. Haha I guess I'm one of the only people who feels this way.

I don't find a problem to this whole thing, actually. Music are pretty fine to me, I guess. And for the text, if you don't wanna read it, don't read it. I'm interested if you ask me.

But I have to agree with the Bog. It's very annoying! And the Snow is annoying too.
The rest is pretty fine to me.

It was a pain to start the "game". You'd need to go to a lake, then get a Pókemon, then go back, then go to the lab, then go back again because you have no running shoes and so on...

Anyways, it was a good intro, just so many speech-

I play the game often and for hours, but sometimes the music bothers me if I'm hearing the same tune all the time. The music helps me concentrate better. (But I do like the night music better than the music that plays during the day. But, I don't necessarily "hate" all the music. I love the old and new contest songs and the Cynthia battle theme. It's just sometimes, some songs like Eterna city bother me when I have the volume on high to overpower my brother's SSMB. I'm so used to the music in the previous games and I like the songs from those games (GSC) better. When in comparison to the old games, I like the other music better.)

The quotes I mentioned were from the trainers to the left of Pastoria city. In almost every Pokemon game, I try to talk to every trainer. In previous games, a lot of trainers would tell me important info. As for FrLg, I liked how some trainers talked about gym leaders/e4/prof. It was interesting. Some characters do kind of talk for a long time. For example, the guy who owns the Pokemon Mansion. Sometimes I talk to the person more than once, because I don't remember if he told me what Pokemon was in the garden.

Though, I will admit, I think it was nice that for once, the trainers have more to say and they're willing to talk to your trainer. The creators took the time to give each character dialogue, and made them tell the character something that's not story-related.

(I like the snow part, but every two seconds left of Pastoria and in G.M., I get stuck in the bog, and it makes me not want to be in that area. I haven't been to the Great Marsh in months because of it.)

yes they talk to much and waste my time

Yeah the quicksand stuff is annoying because you sink in and you have to mass tap the directional pads, like omfg Nintendo should take out all that programming crap they spent into that and put it into something useful, like custom music tracks for the Legendary Birds.

YOU CAN CHANGE THE TXT SPEED YA KNOW! but other than that yes there is too much caption!
