In Sapphire, I had the hardest time finding a Chimecho. I must've spent two hours looking. However, my sister found them quite easily. Maybe I was just unlucky! :( Anyone have a similar situation? And was my luck with Chimecho just a fluke, or is it really just that rare? XD

I also have a tendency to freak out with I see a large silhouette of a Pokemon when the battle starts. I always think Stantler is a legendary beast. :( lol

I had a situation like this once when I was playing Fire Red with my cousin. We were both going through the Safari Zone to find all of the rare Pokemon, but even in the same areas one of us would find multiple of a certain Pokemon, and the other one wouldn't see it once. From what I remember, I found plenty of Tauros and Kangaskhan, and my cousin would find Chansey and Scyther.

You do not know how many times I tried searching for certain Pokemon while EV training and they just rarely ever show up. >>

    this -^

but i do remember when i was lookin for a jolly scyther on platinum, but sadly the first scyther i cauht was adamant, lucky it had a sturdy body, so i couldnt resist usin it :D

but i have NEVER found a modest gible on platinum, i found one on diamond once tho :D

EDIT: yes chimecho is that rare lol

I have 14 Chansey's on HG. It took a long time to find them and then on Pearl, when I randomly went into a grass patch for the first time in a while, I found a Chansey, so I'm just like, wtf. :(

Not sure whether this is what the thread is about, but Chansey is considered rare, so yeah!

I always seem to find legendaries straight away on games I haven't used in a while, too...

During my first run on Sapphire, it took me forever to find a Skitty. At the time, I didn't know that it only appears in swarm, so I just continue looking for it. After about two hours, I still haven't found one. However, my cousin then picked up my game and caught a whole bunch of them because he saw it on the television.

I actually caught a Chimecho quite easily in my Ruby. I dunno, maybe I was lucky, in my Sapphire I still haven't found it.

Now that I think about it, it might just be that when you're looking for a specific something, it never seems to show up. But when you're not looking for it, or looking for something else, it's everywhere and won't leave you alone.

Each time I try to look for a specific Pokemon I can never find it, but when I look for another species I always find the one I was looking for before :/

    This.

I was looking for a Ralts in Emerald. Three hours passed, no Ralts found. I get bored of looking for a Ralts and I continue on. After a month or so, I was doing a ghost monotype. I found seven Ralts looking for a Zigzagoon as an HM slave, and Ziggy is common as well. I lost my patience again and caught Zigzagoon in Petalburg Woods. Sometimes, I hate my game :O.

I can never find a Chimecho either.
Ive never found one on Sapphire but I run into them alot of times on Pearl.
    so this is sorta weird....

Old skool example: It takes me days to find a Tangela on rt.21 in my Blue version. When a buddy of mine asks me where to find Tangela a week later, I tell him to check the grass on rt.21, but be patient as it's kinda rare.

Guess what the first pokemon he ran into was.

Hunting down a single Bagon in Meteor Falls proved to be one of those situations for me. It was worth it, though.

So true. It always takes me forever to find a rare pokémon in a patch of grass but then once I capture one, suddenly they're the only thing that I can find. I know it's supposedly completely random but sometimes I'm skeptical.

Looking for "!" and "?" Unown. 3 days and I got them. Hardest hunt ever.

Did it really need to take five or so hours to find an Absol on Route 120?

    Attempt #1: Wild Marill appeared!

    Attempt #2: Wild Poochyena appeared!

    Attempt #3: Wild Marill appreared!

    Attempt #719: Wild Absol appeared!

^ This, but with Heracross in Pokemon Crystal. My poor Quilava's head...I think I gave it brain trauma trying to find a Heracross.

Beldum in Diamond. :/ Not only does it have to swarm (and I rarely find it even when it does swarm), but it's in a sandstorm area, it has the WORST catch rate, and it's prone to killing itself with takedown. fffffffffffffffffffffffff

And yet I had like 3 of them on my Ruby cartridge, since I transferred them over. How did I even manage? XD

    The worst is when you spend like hours looking for something and then every time you go back to that area for unrelated reasons, it's all you find. ffff Nosepass. ;~;
