Well a new update allowing our trainer to have a buddy Pokemon walk around with us in order to gain candies has been released over the last couple days or so. Which Pokemon of yours are you most looking forward to having by your side as you look to be the very best like no one ever was?

I really like having Growlithe by my side as I walk personally. Just the perfect walking buddy I've found even though it may take a while to get all those kilometers, just having the adorable puppy by my side is rewarding enough. Vulpix and Mankey were close runner-ups but nothing beats Growlithe for me.

    No update yet.

But i know which pokemon i will choose, at level 26 and with 2443 caught pokemon, i only ever got exactly one pikachu. No raichu. That pikachu has very nice IVs at 14/14/14. Also with this one you get 1 egg for 1 kilometer.

So its a no-brainer. I want to evolve that one to see if it gets good attacks and for the pokedex entry.

Snorlax for my main account since I have a few higher IV Snorlax with lower CP that need some help.

My two alternate accounts are both rocking Charmander/Charmeleon since I don't have as many opportunities to rack up Charmander candies compared to the other starters.

I've gone for Charmander, it should take me about 3 weeks to get enough candy to evolve my charmeleon to charizard and in that time I expect to evolve the other Pokemon I need to get the 142 Pokemon

My buddy is a Jolteon for the moment, both because I love Jolteon and because I could really use those Eevee candies. I love the new buddy system; it really reminds me of HGSS.

I'd probably go with a Pokémon that I still need candy for and can only get from eggs. So Cubone, Machop, Ponyta, Mankey or whatever.

Or does it collect random candy?

Eevee. Need just a few candies and I finally get Flareon.

I've went with Pikachu since I now have 2, I chose the one with the better IVs and I'll evolve that one into Raichu once I have enough candy. I really want to get started on my Charmander evolutions but I'll get Pikachu out of the way first.

I opted for Charmander since I need more fire types for gym fighting ... now to find a wild or hatched high IV Charmander to evolve up when the time comes

Charmander. The first Pokemon I ever caught.

Kabutops for me I have a relatively high IV kabuto I want to evolve into a nice strong Kabutops I can power up, only 35 more km (!!) to go.

I'm walking with Magikarp at the moment, because I'm at 300+ candies and I feel like the light's at the end of the tunnel!

I'll probably go with my Bulbasaur next, because Ivysaur is one of the few Pokémon that I've seen that's ran away, and I hate that void in my Pokédex. Afterwards, I'll roll with Eevee, because my 100% Jolteon needs as many candies as possible.

voltorb - needed 3 candy. DONE!
now i have Grimer - need 4 candies.
then either Clefairy (21 candy) or Vulpix (25 candy)

mostly stuff needed for evolutions to add to my Pokedex.

Unless you want to use one of them for arena fights, it does not matter which one you choose, you get pikachu candy in any case, which you can use to evolve pikachu or to power up any pikachu or raichu.

They don't actually walk by your side do they?

Nope, only you see it and only if you look at your player profile.

You get the candy that you also need to power-up or evolve the pokemon you walk with. So, for example, it makes no difference if you walk with Magikarp or Gyarados because both give the same type of candy. The stats and the evolution stage do not matter, only the candy type of the pokemon matters.

Update: I got the update now, walking with my pikachu, i have 8 pikachu candy, so its 42 kilometers to go until i can evolve it for 50 candy. I would suggest that you should first check if any of the 1km buddies can help you, there is obviously a big factor 3 jump between 1km for a candy and 3km for a candy.

Looks like Charmander is a fairly popular one! I think i also may have to start walking with mine, It'd be nice to have a Charizard xD I also realize now my Squirtle and Magikarp would also be good to walk around with since I've stalled on them recently. I think once I'm done getting evolutions though, Growlithe will stay as my main companion :D
