Why are Grass Pokemon considered the easiest to use?

I think it's just how often you run into a type advantage with a grass type. And it probably doesn't hurt that Bulbasaur kicked butt in the first generation of games, at least through the early portion. That in and of itself probably helps perpetrate the idea.

The only grass pokémon I've ever properly used is the Treecko line, I was shocked by how much I liked it and how effective it was against a lot of my opponents.

I've always thought Grass pokémon were the hardest to use. So I did a run on Crystal when I used almost only grass pokémon. It was surprisingly easy. Most of them learned Stun Spore or Sleep Powder xD Takes care of so much. At least in old gen's, I dunno about new ones... but that, and that some grass pokémon (at least Bulbasaur and Chikorita) are pretty easy to raise in the beginning.

They really need a good grass type move that all grass types can learn, like a grass alternative to Flamethrower and Thunderbolt. Grassbolt or Grassthrower obvs. There might be one, but it doesn't come to mind here.

I had always considered that to be razor leaf. In fact more grass-type monsters can learn that than electric ones can learn thunderbolt, by level-up and breeding. That said, razor leaf has never been a TM, let alone a buyable one.
