Why don't they diversify trainers Pokemon more?

One thing that has always bothered me is how random trainers will have like 3 of the same Pokemon on their team. I realize having the same type but there are so many Pokemon of a certain type is it really necessary to give an Electric trainer for example, 3 Voltorbs (or all)? Instead of say, a voltorb, electabuzz, and a Pikachu?

I understand it's probably a lot easier to just give a trainer all or most of the same Pokemon, but to me that seems quite lazy and kind of takes me out of the experience honestly, when I am to believe a trainer would have so many of the same Pokemon.

Granted, they may have fixed this with B&W (people who have played can tell me), but I doubt it.

I kinda have to agree. I mean some of the trainers in victory road say they're going to take on the league and they either have a team of the same type, or a single powerhouse :/ I know its to make the game easier for younger players but it doesn't make it very realistic at all >< Especially the trainers at the end who are aiming for the league or gyms!

I was always under the impression that they were either doing a mono-species challenge or that's their favorite Pokemon.

My brother beat Emerald with a team of Linoone and I with a team of Gyarados. I see nothing wrong with no diversity in a team.
Maybe with a player. But when you're running around battling random trainers that have the same Pokemon over and over it gets real dull.

It's pretty annoying finding a Fisherman who has 6 Magikarp.
You run in to him and go "All right, 6 Pokemon! We'll be getting lots of exp here!" then you find out he has 6 Magikarp, who give terrible exp.

I think they don't do it because if a trainer has a Pokemon, that means it will be able to be seen in your Pokedex before you get the National Dex, and if they diversified that much, there would be way too many.
Although back in GSC there was a trainer that had (I think) a level 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 Voltorb.

Are you kidding? Magikarp is the best pokemon there is! They give awesome expierence! xDD But yes they are annoying. At least one of their Magikarp should be evolved.

I know which trainer your talking about too. I dont really complain much duplicate pokemon on the foes team. It just means more expierence for my team to get :D

Sometimes I don't like the lack of diversity of trainers' Pokemon. I'm tired of battling fishermen with 6 Magikarp.

I don't care for the diversity in trainers or the grunts of the evil syndicate in the region. Most of the time they are either rinse and repeat(boring) or low level and you can barely get any experience. It is too the point some times when wild pokemon are more worth while too battle again then some or most trainers. I understand how grunts get pathetic pokemon, but organzation Admins show get some good pokemon, but a lot of times they don't seem too have much of an improvement.

There's always one in every game isn't there.

    If I recall it was 2, 6, 10, 14. How does one obtain a Lv2 Voltorb in G/S/C?

It wouldn't be so bad if they put some effort into their movesets. I don't like having to battle Pokemon with the last four move it can learn at that level. I would like to see more trainers with Pokemon that know TM, egg and other level up moves. What's the fun in battling 6 Goldeen @Lv25 if they all know Flail, Water Pulse, Horn Attack and Supersonic? Wouldn't it be funner if one knew Ice Beam, another Facade, another one knew Mud Shot, etc. I especially hate facing something like Lombre at Lv22 and it not knowing any damaging Water or Grass attacks.

I completely agree. It maybe wouldn't be so bad if the pokémon were more evolved or something, but when you face trainers repetitively with Zubats or Geodudes etc. it can get pretty monotonous.
