    NEWSFLASH: They're not.

    People (myself included, in the past) seem to complain about how the members on PC are all immature/melodramatic/cliquey/annoying. They have a point; some people are. However, I just want to bring to people's attention that there is a reason it seems this way.

    The mature people, the people who do not want to create drama, are the ones who stay quiet. When people say something they disagree with, they remain silent. They don't start flame wars, they don't get snarky, they don't threaten to leave PC when they get infracted 'unfairly'. They smile, nod and move on.

    And how does this contribute to the perceived (by some) image of PC being a snarky, elitist rabble? Because those who look at PC will only see the snarky elitists. There are actually remarkably few of them, but they are highly visible, and those who would counterbalance them are paradoxically invisible as a direct result of their being sensible.

    So what am I saying in this blog entry? I'm not making a hate blog here; I've had my days of being a drama queen, and they're pretty much behind me, though I'm still working out the kinks. No, this is just a gentle reminder.

    To those who are thinking about leaving because the drama is too much: just stop and think about all the thousands of members who actually aren't snarky elitists or snobbish boors who think being a Community Supporter gives them an elevated status. Go look somewhere else in the forums; leave the blogs, where much of this drama seems to take place; leave certain forums which shall not be named for fear of retribution from the appropriate moderatorsand go find a nice, quiet forum to make some friends and relax. Try the Fan Fiction and Writing forum, my personal favourite place here.

    To those who are snarky elitists (no names) : Bleh, you people make me feel sick. Grow the hell up.

    (And yes, I am including myself in the above group. I am by no means perfect, much less than in fact, and I damn well know it.)

    And didn't you leave because of drama anyway or something? Or am I getting people confused?
     
    Oh, and finally.

    There is no drama. The mention of drama creates drama. Thus you're creating drama by this.

    I learnt the hard way. :D

    oh, and, now I don't care what people think of me, so instead of doing what you say, everyone should just not care and have fun, and disagree too just... not to an extreme.

    Well, it is possible to disagree and have opinions maturely, but is that really wise on the internet? All it really does is potentially call in trouble. I think it's easier and better to remain quiet, although I can honestly say I have trouble doing that.

    Also, if everyone shut up, we'd all be the same, and have no opinions and be robots like Adam :D
     
    I'm not creating drama. I'm just trying to help out those people who go 'OMG PC IS TOO MUCH DRAMA! I'M LEAVING!'

    And no, that's not what I did. The drama was a ridiculously minor part of my decision to leave. I needed a break, so I took one. I'm back now, and a lot better for it.

    I've sort of left PC, so I really, really couldn't care less about what people think about me, or PC in general. I'll say what I want, and when I want to. That's something that everyone should be allowed to do. There's got to be a line to it, yes. And you don't cross the line. You're not to talk for the entire community here, and people have different views and opinions.

    I'm not going to hide behind a curtain. I can be an ass to people. In fact, I'm more often than not an ass to people. If you've got a problem with it, then, like that sentence states, that's your problem. If you tell people how to act then you're just going to get a rapid amount of abuse thrown at your face.

    And about the snobby elitist stuff? I'm amazed you see it this way. You're just as bad as everyone else if you're going as low as to blog about this crap.

    Well, ignoring some of the points by Nica and Will, part of what they said has some weight while others are... questionable, but why bite back at the back-bite, not like anything will get accomplished. *yawns*

    I think it's good for you to release frustrations and trapped emotions every once in a while, Misheard, so I'm not going to snap here. Some of the above mentioned how bad it was of you to blog about what you see and stating your opinion and... frankly, it's your blog, do whatever you wish with it. (I certainly won't frown upon it for taking a stand and putting your blog to use, I don't see any malicious intent here, so I don't really understand some of the reaction this entry received, but enough rambling...) While I disagree with some of what you said, I think you had some well-made points here and there.

    Anyway, I think, Misheard, it's about knowing when to speak up and when to stay quiet. It's a skill that many have trouble with. (even I do) Actually, you could call it an ever-learning lesson that we all hopefully gain at some point or another. You can have mature disagreements on the internet though, sadly it's not as common as I personally would like to see, but hey, stuff happens.

    I do wish we had a lot more of the nod-smile-and-move-on types as you mentioned though, it'd be so much better than to deal with an ignorant user who just won't give up (despite the infraction being the logical course of action) when an infraction is put down. :P

    Anyway, PC in general is reviewed to have a friendly atmosphere, and I believe that still exists today. We've got some questionable points here and there, but we're a forum, nothing's perfect. I agree on finding a forum to grow in, though, it's an awesome thing to do.
