I was thinking of having some kind of Pokémon giveaway at my table this weekend, like breed a bunch of nonsense eggs and give them out to people. That totally ups the chances of having people come back like "BAW Y U GIVE ME MUDKIP."

I'm thinking of getting pokemon platinum (since I heard the RNG is a lot easier than HGSS) and an AR so I can clone and eventually open up my own thread.Is the AR for the DS Lite any good?

uhhh RNG in plat is slightly easier, but for RNG breeding the NPCs are gay, gay gay gay.

You don't have to use just Platinum, Diamond and Pearl are basically the same thing. Platinum just has faster battles, makes it easier to switch through the Poketch apps and I think it has some egg moves that D/P don't have.
I have a DS Lite but I use an AR for the DSi (only one the store had) and it works fine. It makes things a lot smoother when RNGing.

But honestly...
If you've gotta choose between near-flawless, or half-decent Shiny, what would you choose, competitive wise?
If I were you, I would breed for non-shiny Groudon with good IVs.
I've got a couple more sexy breeding projects I plan on doing soon.
