Well, I've been playing through Crystal anticipating the remakes, and I just re-found out how tough Suicune is to capture. Which Pokemon took you longest/consumed the most unnecessary balls to catch? I think my worst experience was using 78 ultra balls on Rayquaza.

Edit: I remember the rest of that story now. Rayquaza KO'd my Starter (Sceptile, which didn't make it easier), and my backup fighters, and my HM slaves. All I had left was my Castform. My poor, untrained Castform. He was obviously going down, so I just figured I'd throw as many Ultra Balls as I could at him. The first one I threw at him didn't let go. So, not exactly a total loss as it was advertised to be. So epic wins in capture are now considered on topic too, I guess. XD

When I first started playing Pokemon I was around 6 or 7 and I didn't like reading what the game says so I just kept trying to catch a Ghost in Pokemon Tower -_-

Articuno in leafgreen or Regice in Ruby definitely posed the biggest of challenges, but justice prevailed in the end!

Registeel in Emerald. That stupid just kept cursing and cursing. Took me over 70 ultra balls or so.

My friend once spent three days of near-constant gameplay on Crystal trying to capture Entei. Myself, I think it took me at least a hundred Ultra Balls for Giratina in Diamond, or something.
