I just found a ♥♥♥♥ing wild pokemon while doing Masuda Method, and I don't know if it will reset my chances of finding a shiny or not. Kinda pissed off if it's true.

I've never heard of this? I was breeding Pokemon earlier and randomly fell on a shiny Wooper. I did battles inbetween leveling my guys up.

Masuda Method comes into play right when an egg is formed. I don't think wild Pokemon have anything to do with it.

yeah, encountering a shiny is a 1/whatever chance, it's not 1 out of every *whatever number* you encounter, meaning that every pokemon you encounter/hatch has the same chance of being shiny, so encountering a wild shiny has no effect on the egg you're hatching being shiny nor does it have any effect on the next wild pokemon you encounter being shiny.

Masuda Method, is a different, additional effect on eggs only depending on if at least one of the parents is from a different region, it doesn't affect wild pokemon at all. It's an eggs only thing.

^This, exactly. Masuda Method has nothing to do with Shiny encounters. It's all a breeding mechanism that gets triggered when you try to breed a Pokémon from your game and one from a foreign language game to boost the likelihood of a shiny Pokémon being hatched.

Phew thank god, because today I hatched a Shiny Froakie and now I'm on my 120th egg for a shiny Tepig

    Appreciate you all.

    Don't know for sure though.

Well, you know, while the odds for getting a shiny in-game have improved significantly in Gen 6, they're still pretty low. As I recall, it's like 1/4000-something for finding one in the wild, and drops to like 1/600-something when you try exploiting the Masuda Method. There was an item called the Shiny Charm in Gen 5 (which you could get by completing the National Pokedex), but I think it only made it so that you were six times more likely to get a shiny either normally or via Masuda method and the odds weren't that good in Gen 5. I know I still haven't gotten a shiny in either Pokémon X or Y yet, but I haven't been trying to either (I just imported the few I got from other games into X via Pokémon Bank/Poke Transporter).

But I have been told that with Shiny Charm and Oval, Masuda Method odds drop to 1/400

Oval Charm only affects how quickly an egg is formed, not whether it is shiny. But yes, Shiny Charm + Masuda Method gives a shiny chance of around 10/4096 (1/410) in this generation. There was some pretty hardcore research done by the Smogon forums here. They've tested it with 116,000 eggs so far, so I'd say it's pretty reliable :P
