So, I think that one question that's been forgotten among the excitement of the introduction and subsequent fanfare of Mega Evolutions is whether of not, with Mega Evolutions being introduced, we will ever see Pokémon introduce new actual evolutions for already existing Pokémon, like Dusknoir, Politoed, Froslass, or Mamoswine.
There are some Pokémon, such as Spinda and Chatot, that could definitely use an evolution. However, is it possible that they intend instead to simply introduce Mega forms for either or both of these Pokémon? Is Mega Evolution meant to replace new evolutions in totality?
Or do you think Pokémon and Gamefreak will do both, introducing new evolutions alongside new Mega Evolutions?
Discuss.
EDIT: And for those who might bring up Sylveon as a case that Pokémon hasn't abandoned making new evolutions, I would agree if we weren't talking about an Eeveelution. Eevee is a Pokémon that was made to have new evolutions added on as new generations come along. Its the whole point of Eevee's existence. So, I don't really count Eeveelutions as evidence to contradict the argument that Mega Evolution were meant to replace simply tacking on regular evolutions.
