that's the thing, you give it those moves for prevention of it doing damage switching in. you don't do it after it's been in battle already. so you will have attacked it before it could use encore. that's the kind of thing i mean.

people just need to make it a habit to not use predictable sets that leave open so many weaknesses.

That's still not an exact counter for Wobbuffet. It takes far too much prediction to stop something that may or may not come out. Just mixing & matching isn't enough. He ruins all Choice users, and it is impossible to conform you entire team to stop it. Only way to beat it is luck.

Tell me who is going to throw Wobbuffet in on something that can drill it into the ground with pursuit or taunt.

Gyara can't come in because Shadow Tag traps everything. and Wobby wouldn't be stupid enough to come in on Taunt Gyarados.
 
Pursuit is never going to kill Wobba if he stays in. And chances are it will stay vs a Weavile or TTar, using counter. Of course you can stop it with Dark Pulse (TTar) and Swords Dance (Weavile) if he's too afraid to Encore, but that doesn't make Wobba any less broken. He's centralizing the metagame around it, demanding people to drastically change their teams and carry more pokemon who can deal with him smartly, on the expence of other useful moves. Mean Look is something you should rarely see on Dusknoir, but it does beat Wobba 1 on 1, because even if he encores your Mean Look, he can't run away, and you'll be free to use Shadow Sneak afterwards.
 
Yeah it's a good thing Wobby doesn't have a move that blocks status after Encoring it, switching to a counter, and belling it off later.

Tbh, i dont even see why it even got tested for OU, is it not obvious that this pokemon has as stupid ability and even more stupid moves to go with it ?. Deoxys i can understand, it can hardly sweep, it can pressure stall a bit, but wobby is just too broken.

Also people seem to be forgetting when they say " Its not hard to beat" that you dont know when its going to come out, say for instance your Choice Band weavile has just finished something off with Pursuit, and then Wobby comes in, its going to revenge kill your ass, which is ironic seeing as Choice Band weavile is a revenge killer. It can then come back later with Wish support and wreck the rest of your sweepers in the same fashion, whilst wrecking your set ups such as dragon dances with Encore along the way. If you attack it its going to Encore and mirror coat or counter. Even status is not a good counter to it, it can use safeguard and it is even worse with cleric support.

Its just too stupid and over centralizing the metagame which is why things are put in uber initially and should actually be put back in ubers where it belongs.
 
I'll give another example.

You kill something with A Choice Band Cross Chop and Wobby comes in! Now what? Nothing. End. You lose. Game over.

Life Orbers suffer more since they are encoreed and lose 10% health each turn while taking counter or mirror coat.

D-E kinda sucks lol

But Wobby...it's just a little too good. It can also help the team it's on in so many ways, like encoring random stuff and sending in something like Heracross, while they're locked into something like WoW, and then throw a Choice Band Focus Punch at the switch-in.

Then you'll LOVE what I'm about to share with you:

Use Wobbuffet to trap something that commonly carries Earthquake, preferably as a STAB move. Donphan works here. Encore its Earthquake and send out BellyZard (just be sure there's no SR)

Set up a sub while they run off and Belly Drum while they break it. Then Salac Berry Activates and gg.

Even if sandstream ruins you you can still KO a few things.

Or encore a thunderbolt and switch in Garchomp...the list goes on.

So I gladly accept that challenge since it won't exactly be doing bad for my shoddy record.

EDIT: I doubt they'll ever move it back up no matter how uber it proves to be in all honesty.
 
i honestly don't see it as that big of a threat. it may almost be guaranteed involvement in at least one KO, but any decent player would know not to fall for that again. dugtrio is an example of this but is not given as much attention because, well, it kinda sucks lol. yet at the same time, wobuffet is left at a major disadvantage with not being very reusable. by this i mean that once it fulfills its purpose, it really has to luck out to be made useful in a battle again. while the metagame may take a significant shift because of wobbu's abilities, teams with wobbuffet really have to build their teams around it so that it can be reusable. i think that is a clear balance.

but on another level, anyone can request to not have wobuffet in their team if they're so opposed to the idea. "wobbu clause"... or "buffet clause". mmh buffet. i could sure have some orenj chikenz.
 
I love using Wobby to encore on status (because everyone tries to status him) only to send in an Electivire, Houndoom or Heracross to take advantage of which status it is

Wobbuffet is broken, regardless of how little it is actually used in ubers, it still belongs there
 
Wi-Fi is where Wobbuffett really shines. Expecially with sleep leads like Roserade and Bronzong or Gengar.

Say something like this:

Player1 sent out Roserade!
Player2 sent out Wobbuffett!
Player1's Roserade uses Sleep Powder!
Wobbuffett's Lum Berry activates!
Player2's Wobbuffett uses Encore!



Next, you'd pick Safeguard as the next move. Since you've Encore Roserade, it must use Sleep Powder. If it hits, you fall asleep, then you switch out, as they do a second Sleep Powder to the second pokemon. And they lose by violating sleep clause! And if they miss, you've just set up a Safeguard, and now you can switch into something that can set up, like a BellyZard, and rape the other guys team.
