PS: better late than never. Also thread will be bumped weekly to supply more information about the game by yours truly

    Release date: October 27, 2017
Platform(s): PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One
    Developer: Machine Games
    Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
    First revealed at: E3 2017

The anticpated direct Sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order (and to extend The Old Blood), The New Colossus continues the journey of William "BJ" Blazkowicz who seemlingly survived the events of the previous game (The New Order) in ridding the world of Nazi occupation as he fights his way into a Nazi occupied America. The stakes are even higher for BJ as not only is he fighting for his home country's freedom but also for the future of his family.

So to those looking forward to Wolf2? What are your thoughts about it? What would be your mindset regarding the game's setting and the enemirs you will be facing? And if you dont mind to be a bit political, do you think that this game reinforced the idea that "Nazis are Evil and must be shot to pieces just like Doom's demons" or do you think that the game is a little distateful considering what has happened recently in America IRL?

Do you want to treat Wolf2 as a game where we get to experience what a hypothetical world of Nazi occupation be like if History was altered, and try to see what social commentary the game will have or would you just "^**k the story, i just wanna kill more Nazis! WHOOOOOOOO111!!!!"

    Go

I'll be buried in D2 too far to buy this game anywhere near release. Maybe I'll pick it up at some later time.

I do always look forward to just blasting stuff though, and Wolf has a lot more variety to combat that DOOM at that so it's my go to. Plus it has some semblance of a half-assed story. Unless they try to go the same direction as DOOM with this I'll certainly buy it! Just later...

Considering the game engine being used aka IDtech6, expect the system specs for PC to be relatively the same for those in Doom 2016. Anyone who owns d2016 and its amazing IDTECH6 performance on optimal system specs should at least expect the same constant perfect frames per second regardless of graphics settings.

The 50 health limit on Bj in the early levels (as seen in the early gameplay footage) is going to be something that is of concern to some players though. Part of TNO's enjoyment to me and many others was running around like a madman dual wielding two rifles or two autoshottys and ripping every Nazi in the room in half while having enough health+armor to sustain a hit or two before needing to rummage through crates for food and armor.

Also i heard from unreliable sources/reddit leakers about DLC already planned so do not be surprised when post launch will have DLC episodes or campaigns to extend the game's playspan ;)

Leaks? You mean the DLC they announced a few weeks (I think) back? 3 side stories where you play as an special agent, a survivor of the US Military, and a rebel I think. I'm just going off memory here.

If anyone is surprised they obviously haven't been paying attention.

Also I'm not worried about the specs (I personally don't think IDTech is really that amazing other than the lighting) but the actual gameplay. If they shift it more towards doom's just masacre a whole bunch of enemies that do the same thing in a boring ass room, I'll be dropping Wolf 2 as fast as I dropped doom.

Okay so I've never played Wolfenstein before: what makes this series stand out when compared to other generic shooters?

    DUAL WIELD EVERYTHING.
(but wait, you could do that back in Halo 2 and 3 oVo, but you were still limited to carrying only two weapons at once)

Being Ultra manly. Also not being limited to carrying only a primary and another one (or a pistol) because being limited to only two weapons at once are for those who are vegan, eat tofu, are pacifists, and watch movies were people kiss in the rain. BJ who dial wields, also can carry several weapons at once.

Also, the Story in Machine Games' Wolfenstein series compared to those out there has been some of the best and most clever writing in years, and combine that with being Ultraviolent as F**K, Nazis being portrayed as the ultimate assholes, which gives you the reason to be Ultraviolent as F**K, the decently challenging enemies (if played on I am Death incarnate difficulty or above). Also Wolfenstein is one of the few kinds of fictional media to portray what would happen if Nazis actually won World War 2, thus turning an entire region like EU into the ultimate evil. also NA > EU

The current Wolf series combines elements of old school and current school almost seemlessly especially when one considers how tech was so limited back then in the days of Wolfenstein 3D, which obviously is Wolfenstein's roots in general.

    This cracks me up everytime.

I really love how well written and well presented the Nazis are in this version of Wolfenstein. Comparing this to Wolfenstein 3D from uears ago which will safely assume that most people have never played, Machinegames has truly made Wolfenstein a completely different character from what it was decades ago.

Being sandwhiched between Destiny 2's PC release and CODWW2 may be an issue for me though. But its its going to be a nice diversion nontheless especially with the BADASSITUDE that Wolf has. Its a nice break. We got 2 fps games with a robust multiplayer in dest2 and codww2 and one with a hopefully super solid single player campaign as well as that fulfillment of that whole nazi shredding power fantasy that most of us would like..

Alright. Its been weeks since i shared some Wolf 2 related articles but this piece from PC Gamer should be an enlightening read where it discusses how Wolf 2 is NOT a social commentary but its also political, given the game's setting (Nazis in NA) and the recent events of Charlottesville from the last month.

    https://www.pcgamer.com/wolfenstein-2-is-political-but-isnt-a-commentary-on-current-topics-says-dev/

Nazi America has been a fixture of speculative sci-fi since the demise of the Third Reich, and out of context, Wolfenstein II's dystopian story of resistance is informed more by pulpy splash panels than socio-political treatises. But right now, the billowing Nazi banners and casually hooded Klansmen absolutely evoke the carnage of Charlottesville. Over the past few months we've all been reminded that white supremacy, as a political value, is alive and emboldened across the country—and The New Colossus isn't afraid to touch on that reality

Also fin fact: There was never a Wolfenstein game dating from the classic games that were set in America. the new colossus is the first, as well as the first game that will feature what a Nazi takeover of USA is like.
