I just recently found all my old Pokémon cards from middle school, and that got me itching to start playing again. (All the people at my school play cards, usually magic or YuGiOh, though, and I wanted to play something, too.) I advertised this and got a big chunk of free cards from a friend who doesn't play anymore, and yesterday made a very good purchase of even MORE cards. Three whole boxes for twenty bucks! The lady said since it wasn't popular, they weren't really selling, so I just made the offer and she happily accepted. I got some pretty good cards, too.

Anyway, I went to making some decks, trying to remember the best I can how to play. I came up with one that I like (I won 3 out of 5 rounds with it, not bad for a beginner.), but I have a so called "dream deck" I want to work on. It is a continuation of a deck I wanted to make years ago, and I don't even know if it would still be effective or how much it would cost to get all these cards. (Unfortunately, I don't have barely any of the ones I require,)

This is the deck I want to create:

    Pokémon (20):

    - Feraligatr x 2 (Neo Genisis Card with the Pokémon Power Downpour + Riptide)
    - Croconaw x 3 (Not sure which one to go with)
    - Totodile x 4 (Ditto)
    - Cleffa x 3 (Neo Genisis Card with Eeeeeek)
    - Clefairy x 4 (Neo Genisis Card with Doubleslap + Squaredance)

(Don't know what else to put in it)

    Trainers/Stadiums/Energies (40):

    Water Energy x 20
    Sprout Tower x 2
    Potion x 5
    Professor Elm x 2
    Exp Share x 1
    Moo Moo Milk x 1
    Mary x 2
    Ecogym x 1
    Double Gust x 1

I plan on getting a lot of energy cards in my hand by using Clefairy's Squaredance technique, then retreating it on my next turn to send out Feraligatr. I'd use its Downpour Pokémon Power to discard all those energy cards, then cause some damage with its Riptide attack. Then, reshuffle those Water Energies back into my deck, and do it all over again. The Cleffa's are so I can reshuffle my hand and get a new one without having to discard any cards, in case I was delt a bad hand.

That's all I worked out so far, I don't know what else to use, or if this is even legal. It's been a long time since I've played, I don't remember ALL the rules about decks. I still can fit 5 more cards. I'm open for any help you guys can give...and, if you can throw me a ballpark esitmate how much a deck like this would cost, or a good website I can buy single (preferaby non-holographic) cards, that'd be great!

Unfortunately, those cards aren't playable in the modified format anymore. If you just want a deck to play with for fun with your friends it's fine, but it won't work for league. The oldest set you're allowed to play is from Diamond & Pearl, that and anything newer than that is playable. If you plan to keep it for fun, there are a lot of new supporter and trainer cards that you should look into including. You need some search cards in there, like Roseanne's Research and Bebe's Search, and you won't have to include the Cleffa's to redraw a hand. You can check out the official rules on go-pokemon.com if you aren't familiar with the new format.

Awwwh, really? That's too bad, darn! While the majority of the time I like to play just for fun, it would be nice to enter a tournament at least once if I ever get any good. Thanks for the site refs. I'll get to work on a different deck for the HGSS. :) Thanks again guys!
