;) well to have would peace people better start having respect for each other and stop thinking about what difference they have and start thinking about what stuff they have in commen that they can live in peace of course the possibility of this happaning is not good but you never know

Conflicts have to be taken on a case-by-case basis and we have to act from there...I supported Afghanistan, and I supported Iraq until everything spiraled out of control. I believe that intention is as important as end result.

Even if we didn't directly dethrone Milosevic, we did stop much of his butchering. He had very little power after the incident. They elected a new government, no?

I support Kaga... the idea of world peace is nice, but it's idealistic. Humans will never completely agree on everything, so there will always be conflict, even in small domestic occurences. War is necessary. I don't LIKE it, but I'm not saying world peace is achievable. We can help the world become more peaceful, but world peace isn't going to happen. =/ Besides, Kaga's also right in the supporting Afghanistan thing... I support war when it's for good, moral reasons - like liberation - but I don't support it when civilians are hurt unnecessarily. They're always going to be hurt, but in Iraq and so forth... it did get out of control.
And I suppose everyone hates me now, too, for being a pessimist. I do support the idea of world peace, but I know it's idealistic, not achievable. -_-
 
Hm i'm probably going to state what's already been stated but it's my opinion. I don't really ever think we will completely acheive world peace since there's going to be some dominant leader in some continent in some country we don't pay much attention to that's going to hurt people or cause an uprising of war and stuff. I think the U.S. and the Middle East are a long way from helping acheive world peace. Long way. I don't think war is wrong unless it's not for a good cause. This would be an example: Go fight and kill the enemy so we can take over thier country and steal their oil. If I was older, I wouldn't fight for that. I would fight for protection of the people and trying to perserve democracy since in most cases democracy works best for countries.
 
Yesh, but what if your country desperately needs oil? Oil is precious, and especially the G8s, and sadly, the Australian government [the country is quite giving =D], for example, aren't very generous. xD; Well, you'd go and fight for it out of despair. =x
Besides, apparently one student assassinating Archduke Ferdinand stared the whole WWI... >> . = O
 
Oh, 0.o I thought an assination started WW I? Anyway's the oil prices are rising here and I guess the country is in desperate need of oil but it doesnt mean we just have to like take it from them. I'm sure we could work up some contract deals and such, all that business mumbo jumbo and plop a couple million into their hands.

But what if the other countries also had a shortage of oil, or you were governing a country with little to give, or a very poor one? XP
My cynical point being "Niceness is the dream of the idealistic when you're looking after a whole country".

Yeah well, if the other countries had a shortage of oil I guess we'd have to deal now wouldn't we? If I was governing a country with little to give or it was a very poor country i'd have to ask for help or something from other countries. I really don't think one country can be independant, most likely interdependant it would be.

But then it still wouldn't necesssarily be possible, because one government could not possibly control the world. And naturally people are going to disagree. Actually, one ruling government might even throw the world into more chaos.

Totally doubt it. I bet in the future there will be more greed and hatred. The past was great. In the Jesus's time, except they burned Jews. :( (I'm not Jewish by the way.) And Sadam or the other bad guy says he's coming back to America to kill inicents, there was a video they found today. In the war, when someone shoots someone, they don't think or realize they're killing a husband/son/uncle/brother/father/cousin, it's a bad thing. :/
No one is perfect, but some people are way too far from perfect...

I think we can all conclude that we should stop worrying about world peace because this modern dream of ours isn't going to happen now or ever. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but I'm just saying what's true. There's always going to be someone out there that's going to revolt against another country and start some kind of tension that could lead to a war etc. Pretty much all we do bring is pain, suffering, and death because when we're trying to save people we're also killing people to protect them. I would like to go back to the 1940's where at least we fought for a good reason rather than liberating a country we knew was under the reign of a regime by Saddam for like 10 years after he invaded Kuwait and George Bush just had a thing in his head saying he wanted to go to war with Iraq so we could finish the job?.....
 
I don't think its impossible... I just think its not totally possible, because of the fact that the world NEEDS negativity to create positivity, the world needs rich to make poor. All Jobs are based on Good and Bad things, and world peace would kind of disturb it. Unless they can come up with plans that won't upset either side...then its possible, but...just not in this day and age.

We can all do something to help though.

If there is world peace, there will be less inventions, because that's what people usally fight over.
