If you want to make a Yu-Gi-Oh! game, you're better off using a maker which you can actually use a scripting language in, such as RMXP or Sphere. You won't be able to create a good card game system with just events...

well that maybe so but i made this a few years ago
https://rapidshare.com/files/161439546/Yugioh_DUEL_.zip
i am not going to use it in my game but i will make a better one that
you can actually lose life points and so on.

I am sorry, but you do not even know whats going on in that game, I use game very loosely too. The opponent uses the same monster and you just end up loosing. You do not know how much life points you have because they are not displayed. You also have no idea how much much attack/defense each monster has, not that it's needed. All that was is a random monster generator. You will have to program trap cards and all of the other cards. Also you will have to program what cards you have in your hand.

I think that if you want to make a Yu-gi-oh game, you should just make it a monster game, maybe have it so 2 other people can join you so you have multiple party members. Just give each character one monster that would represent them. Ex. like how Kiba would be the Blue Eyes White Dragon.

I was going to make a better one and your idea is really cool so i may use it in my game and Omega Groudon has mad a great titlescreen for my game i will post it if there are 15 more posts here.
EDIT:Here are a few duel stadiums i made for my game plus they will have a duel system as close as to the real one as possible.

Looks good. But why there's only 6 slot for each player.
It suppose to have 10 slot ( 5 for monster, 5 for trap/spell ).

i know its because i don't want to ave to do to many variables
but in futre i may make 10 slots.
EDIT: Yipee! second page ive never had one before in any of my threads

I am not a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! at all but I wouldn't mind to see a game. As long as it has a nice storyline then I am fine with it.

Well it will have a good storyline in my ways i have already planned it out a bit.

So how's the progress?
I think you should fully implemented the Dueling system before posting this.
Like if everyone think it's really promise, but you'll dissapoint everyone when you fail to make the Dueling system.
That's my opinion.

well yeah that would be a dissapointmant but ive got school with loads of homework(Year 4 is tough but i like maths im the best at it) but i think i can manage it.
REMEMBER:20 posts not including me = Titlescreen sneak peek creadit to OmegaGroudon

Hey guys I finished making a charset for the 4 cards
spells,traps,monsters and effect monsters
I wold like to ask one question should I make new cards
made in yugioh card maker or the old cards made in yugioh card maker?

Ohhhhhh..... Yo momma.....
lol.
Just kidding.

That is complete B.S though.
It would be rather simple- in any maker- to make this using variables.
E.G for drawing cards, you just randomize the variables- store the deck into variables. For everything, attack, def, life points, whatever, just use variables and simple maths to work stuff out.

If you put some planning, rather then jumping straight into the code, read the basic rules of the card game, and work out how it goes, write out pseudo code in note pad, it(the game's card mechanics) would be easy enough.

I thought it will be extremely hard to code this kind of system out.
But seems everything looks easy to you, Neo!
Lol.
As everyone said, you're really a good rm2k3 user!

Thanks very much.

I shouldn't say easy. I didn't mean to use the word "easy."
But if you take time to work out the maths (since nearly every code in every kind of game is nearly all maths) you can figure out how to do anything. You'll just be limited by your knowledge of the tool you are using.

A fun little saying is:
"Everyone can use a hammer, not everyone has the skill to become a Carpenter"
lol.
Life lesson there.
Ha.

sounds great vm me when it's done

I love the idea, thing is that I don't believe this is something that should be forced into a container not designed for it. What you should do is code it from scratch. So here's my offer/Challenge. I love the idea of a pokemon TCG game so since I haven't seen you say your going to take that up I'm going to make one from scratch.

Here's the real offer though. If you can some how get the data into a database I will make you a game engine in C#, that way variables are not a problem and the freedom is unlimited. I was actually thinking of re watching the series and making a Yu-Gi-Oh game that followed more of the extended effect that the show had (time wizards transformed baby dragons into 1000 yr dragons and weakened other creatures, the moon pulled in tides, etc).
