  • I mean, we have mode7, but could we make proper full 3D buildings like diamond and pearl? Or would it not be feasible.

  • An extremely skilled programmer on an RPG Maker XP forum spent about 2 months working out 3D, and couldn't do it.

The most he was able to do was use it to display a 3D image and then a minecraft-like editor, but it'd be virtually impossible to have the DS-like 3D buildings in RMXP.

    Hope this helps.

  • I've never seen the 2.5D that the newer Pokemon games used recreated in RMXP, however, I have seen it done in Game Maker (albeit with a lot of skilled programming lol).

  • I don't really think its impossible. I made a 3D engine using *.3DS models in only a couple months for RMXP, its incomplete as of yet but is equal to or better than DS models. (+ runs at 250+ FPS)

    A picture proof:

It's not open source though, but I thought I'd give my input on 3D. This was not too hard to do.

This is as close to 3D as you'll get!

I'm pretty sure I got closer. (better lighting, fps, and display)

There is one that allows for full 3d but its still been worked on and its kind of a little known project that not many people know about.

  • You can, but only at the essentials project (poccil's kit) do this at the game
go to options -> map view -> perspective
    Hope that helps. =D

Don't listen to this guy, the others who've actual done stuff with it know what they're talking about. This one is just blurting out information that will help very little if at all.

  • Actually Diamond and Pearl are classed as 2.5D as well, it was proven that diamond and pearl contain 3D objects, not 2D objects rendered to look 3D.

You don't seem to know what 2.5D means; It's a term that was coined for games that use 3d graphics, but have 2d game play. Pokemon Gen IV and Kirby 64 are good examples of this.

~Red is right, Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HG/SS, and Black/White are all very obviously using 3d models, I can prove than much. You can also tell for yourself but the way the perspective on objects such as houses change - That's not Mode 07 or some clever illusion, it's 3D.
