    would a Water Type Pokémon survive in a pool or hot tub? normal fish cannot (why? idk), but Pokémon are stronger and can survive more. would Water Type Pokémon be able to swim in pools and hot tubs with their trainers?

    I RP that they can... I RP bringing a Samurott to a pool and hot tub a lot

    As long as they're not too big, Pokémon can definitely swim in pools—doesn't matter if they're water-type or not. We've seen it in the anime plenty of times. Could they live and survive there, though? Well, that depends. If they have other Pokémon accompanying them, are taken good care of, and are well-fed, then sure! If not, then no, they probably can't. In order to keep themselves a-OK, they need all of that. :b

    Not to be a downer, but the reason fish can't is the chlorine suffocates them and acts as a poison and destroys parts or there insides. Therefor if it is a fish (like mangikarp) i think it might die, but samurott since it breaths air i assume is fine.

    I don't see why they wouldn't be able to unless it was poisonous. It pretty much is just water.

    Misty's Gym (at least in Red/Blue) had a pool where you could fish for Pokemon, so I think that it's possible. And Pokemon are quite resilient, so I'd think that they could survive for a while..

    This question reminds me of one of the ladies lounging in the hot tub of Lavaridge Town (IIRC), who mentioned that she thinks you might get a "bubble bath" if you put Water-type Pokemon in a hot tub.. XD (and "lava bath" for Fire-type Pokemon, and "electric bath" for Electric-type Pokemon, IIRC). {XD}

    This.

    Oh wow, the more you know. :o Hmm...I guess that Pokemon could survive if you place them in an enclosed, non-treated body of water... (can fish do that, though, if water wasn't treated with chlorine?)

    Well, if a magikarp can battle on land as well as other fish pokemon, then they can easily survive in a pool. There isn't water on a pokeball, either.

    Taking it from the literal prospective, if it's a Sealeo, Lotad, Surskit or Empoleon it probably won't enjoy a hot tub as much as other Water-types because of it's Fire-type neutrality. It also depends on if they're weak to water or not. Having said that, Water and Dragon-types would love that sort of thing the most.

    The anime's shown them being ale to survive normally in pool water and fountain water (though i do wonder about the chlorine). Especially if the temperature was suited to their natural environment and body temperature, Hot tubs might be too hot for them, even if they're water pokemon.

    I don't think they'd enjoy living there for an extended amount of time, breathing it and stuff. Not if it was a pool with chlorine, or if the water was hot. But I see no reason why they wouldn't enjoy bathing there. And they can absolutely live in aquariums or pools more suited to their needs; Misty has got a lot of water pokémon in the Cerulean gym for instance.
