    Simple question, be truthful!

If there was no chance of you ever getting any rank* higher on PC than you are now (excluding PPN obviously who probably won't be replying anyway...), would you stay at PC? Or would you be less active to an extent?

Do you think it's a wise idea to have that sort of mindset of "if I can't achieve anything more than I am now, I don't want to bother"? Or do you think it's a perfectly fine mindset to have? If you don't have this mindset now, did you have it in the past?

*rank can include member > moderator in this case, or moderator > smod and so on.

Also to clarify, this means if you're a member now, you would never become a moderator.

I would still stay, tbh. I didn't join for a staff position, I joined to talk about B/W with other people, so I could stay and still post where I want to and still meet new people. But that could also be affected by the fact that I'm pretty new, so I haven't gotten jaded with PC like some people have that have been around for a long time. I still have a lot of time left in my honeymoon phase on PC so even without the added incentive of possibly getting on staff one day, I would still have a lot left to do in the forum.

However, I'm one of those people that think that motivation like that is perfectly fine, whether it's on PC or elsewhere. Imo, it's the same as volunteering because a school forced you to - although you may not be doing it with the right "spirit" in mind, the people you're helping when you volunteer don't care why you're doing it. Although you should be helpful and active because you want to be helpful and active, some people are that way because they want to become a mod. But that doesn't make them any less helpful and active in the forums, so imo it doesn't matter what their motivation is. You can't force someone to want to do something, so any extra motivation is good.

I'd stay though there would be less motivation. It is always fun to post around here, and if you truly enjoy PC then you would stay.

With the the staff having bigger avatar sizes, blogs, custom usertitles, bold usernames and assumed access to supporter forums, I'd say you guys give the entire forum the idea that being on staff is something to reach for. And then there's the ability to make an emblem and give it to those on the forum you like..

I don't want to be on the staff, though.

I would stay, of course. I love this place too much to leave. A staff position would be amazing, but it's not the reason I'm here. And to be honest, if someone was told that they were never going to be on staff and then left the forum altogether, that would seem incredibly tantrum-y to me lol

    I'd obviously stay! PC is the first forum I've ever joined and everyone here is so nice <3 Plus I'm too n00bish to be a mod, haha. XD;

Being a Super Moderator far exceeds where I thought I would have gotten. So long as I have interest in the forum and my friends are still part of the community, then I would stick around. When I joined the forums, my intentions was never to be a moderator, but just to talk about Pokémon and meet people who enjoyed the fandom as much as myself. So, I'm perfectly content where I am now, and if I chose to be a normal member again, then it would be of my own choice ─ unless I got fired, then I couldn't do anything about that.

I'm happy where I am. It would be nice to move up the ranks, so to speak, but if I was told that I'm just going to be a mod and nothing more, that'd be fine by me. I like C&M, I like my mod duties, I like my co-workers and friends. I certainly wouldn't want to leave.

Knowing me, I'd probably like to be promoted some time down the line. Right now, however, I'm perfectly content with being a super moderator. I've wanted to be one ever since I can remember. I like having direct input on nearly all of the issues dealing with the community. At the moment, I don't see myself leaving the community, but the time will come one day when I log on for the last time, just like everyone else, I imagine. I don't think it will be influenced by a lack of ladder to climb.

I wouldn't leave, but it would be nice to have a staff position and all. Main thing, I'm pretty happy with the position I have right now.

Nothing wrong with being a regular member. There's still plenty you can strive for PC-wise like winning contests and other less objective things like having more fun and talking with people about things you enjoy. I mean, that's why we're here, right? To talk with each other about things we like. We've got a large member base, too, and a lot of talent so there's always something new you can do or learn.

Nah, I don't really care one way or the other.

People seem to forget that PC is just a forum. Being a mod will get you nothing but more work, and a couple noobs to grovel at your feet. That's about it.

I wouldn't leave. I came to enjoy a lively forum and talk about things that I have in common with other people. I mean who wouldn't like a staff position, here? It's just something you'll have to be patient about. That's not what I joined for. There's plenty for you to do at PC while being a member.

Your stance is commendable but I wouldn't dismiss everything a mod has so easily. There are plenty of perks, especially if you're not a supporter already. Different name, the option to have a colored usertitle, all those pretty supporter profile benefits, blog. Then in addition to that you have access to different forums that you wouldn't normally have access to. And people who really enjoy having responsibility don't think that "more work" is a bad thing. Some people just enjoy being a leader and become one naturally, and always search for a leadership position in whatever they're passionate about. Part of wanting to be a mod isn't wanting power, it's feeling passion for the forum and wanting to be able to help it in a unique way.

It's nice to not want to be a mod and all, but you're sorely underestimating what's open to moderators that your average member doesn't have access to just for the purpose of making your point.

I've been here for over 3 years without getting a staff position, what does that tell you? Would a staff position be nice? Of course it would, but that wasn't the reason I joined in the first place And it definitely wasn't Shiny Gold or anything....xD

I think I would become less active, tbh. The idea that maybe sometime in the possible future that I might be a moderator, is kind of the extra motivation to keep going and trying extra hard. But of course, I like PC. I didn't join with the intent to become staff, I joined with the intent to have a good time here, meet some cool people, you know.

Because honestly, I think my chances of becoming staff are pretty damn low anyway, so it isn't that much of a loss to me.
