6th Gen X/Y Third Version Speculation Thread

I've been thinking about possible release dates for the upcoming game(s), based on past Pokémon games' release periods. Since we're not getting any information right now regarding the game(s) itself, there isn't much else to speculate on. But while thinking about when the game(s) could possibly release, I came to a realization that I'd really like to get off my chest:
I'd actually really like if the next game(s) was released later in the year, around the September-November period.

Like, I get that some people are getting anxious and impatient; I don't blame anyone for that. It's especially difficult when we have absolutely nothing to go by when it comes to information regarding the next game(s). But when I think that it's going to be the series's 20th anniversary, I get really hyped for the fun possibilities the year could bring.

For instance, there was a sort of "mall tour" in celebration for the series's 10th anniversary. I don't remember it too well--cut me some slack, it was ten years ago!--but what I do remember was really enjoyable. There were merchandise booths, there may have been a movie premier (I remember the Lucario and Mew movie was definitely being played up, at the very least), and there were tons of event Pokémon being given out. You had to stand in line to get to a device and hook up your GBA via cable to get the event Pokémon--man, how times have changed! And of course, there were tons of fans all around, having fun and enjoying Pokémon.

There was also a series of mall tours leading up to the release of Black & White. That one I remember a lot more clearly. Starting the day with a viewing of the Zoroark movie, exploring the mall in search of stamps to fill out a book and win some prizes, playing a demo of the highly anticipated game, grabbing some plushies and shirts featuring the new Pokémon, stopping by the photo booth, spinning a wheel to win a prize, then taking a break to watch a bit of the newest anime episodes... The mall tour even aligned nicely with the Celebi GameStop distribution, so we could grab ourselves a Celebi when passing by the GameStop. It was incredible fun, and I was honestly very saddened by the fact that there wasn't anything similar prior to the launch of X & Y.

Now I'm aware that we may not get any sort of event like this during the year, but I can't help but feel like the series deserves a sort of celebration like this, at least this year. And if they were to host mall tours like this, but combining the themes--a celebration of both the upcoming game(s) and the series's 20th anniversary--it would be an incredibly fun, exciting event. And I'd be happy to wait for the game(s) to release in fall if it meant we would have some sort of enjoyable event(s) like that to keep us hyped leading up until its release.

Were these later events during the led up to BW in Japan, well I mean took place in 2010, or during 2011. 2011 was the 15th anniversary after all, so something similar for the 20th is possible.
I expect a late summer/early fall release too. As I mentioned before the spin offs cover the first half of the year, but thus far we know nothing about post "early 2016". GO is set to come out early this year, as are Pokken (late March, and I hear that Mystery Dungeon has yet to release in Europe, but will come out in March too), and RGBY (February 27th) for V.C.

They could possibly do that with the Zygarde core somehow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But yeah, it's probably a longshot.

Idk, I'd rather that they still need mega stones. What would be the point in introducing mega stones but then making all these "exceptions" with several other Pokemon that don't nee them?

.....and just look at Mega Ray
Two sequels, one with the Red core as the starter, the other with the Blue Core,I've been considering it for a while. Would be a cool twist, and the power levels besides the 50% one could be different to make things interesting. Not to mention a legendary being present from the start and having an active plot instead of something that pops up after the 4th gym with little eventd before.

As for Kalos Starter Megas sans-mega stone, I think its gonna happen. After a while, having to manage more then 70 stones is going to be annoying, so introducing anither method which will suceed the current next gen would be good.

i don't think its gonna be mega's exactly, but something similar like primal reversion thas affected by your which starter you chose & your character's gender
ashgreninja isn't exactly the first time a pokemon has appeared with a human characters attribute & it ties in with the very game geninja was made for other then x&y, aka ssb4.
what i'm referring to is the alternate costumes in smash

for the most part its just hats and are focused on pokemon's mascot & the one that nearly became the mascot.
not exactly the point, but more then likely one of the main inspirations of ashgreninja.

Source for jigglypuff nearly being the mascot? Just asking as it's the first I've heard of it. As far as I know, clefairy was going to be the original mascot but they want something that could appeal to bother genders and so pikachu was chosen instead.

As for Z, I think we are gong to see it announced this month or next. I also agree that the kalos starters will probably get something special like ash greninja.

ok i got mixed up, i was kinda out of it when typing that out.
either way in the end jigglypuff did become something of a mascot back before she stopped showing up in the show.

I think a fall release is possible too, or maybe even a summer release. I think those two time periods are more likely than a spring release, since we still haven't heard anything yet. The mall tours sound like fun, it's too bad I don't live close to a mall big enough that could host those kinds of things... because I would totally be all for it.

Masuda had retweeted something kind of interesting just recently, it has to do with the February issue of Nintendo Dream:

https://mobile.twitter.com/nindori/status/683952035054530560

From what I could gather from both translations I used, there's supposed to be something Pokemon-related in it, and they both say to "please pay attention to the message from the development". Going by the image in the tweet, I'm guessing it has to do with Pokemon's 20th anniversary, which is why I'm assuming Masuda retweeted it. IIRC, it was Nintendo Dream magazine that had the Sugimori interview about why Flygon didn't get a Mega Evolution in ORAS.

Is it like corocoro and releases a month ahead of time? Because if so then we can expect it this month.

It does say message and February, the rest I don't understand very well.
Speaking of Corocoro, I wonder if the February issue (the one officially coming out in 11 days or so) will have anything, like at least a tease.Edit: The amazon link mentions 1/5 Tuesday so I assume that it's coming out soon (it's Tuesday in Japan already)

A tease would be great to see. Possibly a leak of one of their new mega-evolutions?

I was thinking along the line of a hint that something big is coming like they did with Volcanion, or a silhouette of a Mega or other new formes.

I'm not really sure, since I don't know a whole lot about it outside of the Mega Flygon interview I mentioned earlier. So far nothing has popped up on the Internet, so that could mean one of two things... it either didn't release today and won't be till next month, or there was nothing of significance in it. But I'm still wondering why Masuda retweeted it if there was nothing in it that would be significant.

EDIT: Masuda stop it off, you're killing me here:

That looks like the opening for the Pokemon GO trailer, but I wasn't sure. He's still killing me, it's worse than the Dark Side of the Force I swear on it.

Well this is good news, The more we hear of GO the more likely it's release will be before the end of March, after March there's nothing as of what's currently announced...meaning Z can take over...

How come you think GO will be released Feb-Mar? I have seen an interview about GO but nothing about it's release date.

Also, Masuda says Game Freak started running their own Facebook page today just a few hours ago. Are they preparing for something soon? Check on Masuda's Twitter for the link.

Happy New Year!
You start to run, Inc. Game Freak official Facebook page today.
Or Game Freak that developed the "Pokemon" series What kind of company, and will continue to provide a variety of information in order to get to know everyone.

Masuda is unusually very active on Twitter today.

That is really interesting indeed.

I just had a funny thought... I remember seeing a post made by Serebii himself on his forums a couple months back, and it had to do with the different methods of main game reveals. I wish I could find the post now, but he pointed out how each game reveal were different each time... for instance, Platinum was revealed in CoroCoro, Black and White were revealed on TPCi website, X/Y during a Direct, so on and so forth. So, what if they reveal "Z" to us through this new Facebook account they've got set up? Actually, I think TPCi has a Facebook page as well. With that said, I could see both Facebook accounts revealing the game simultaneously.

Irc it was stated at the press conference that revealed Go that it'll be released in early 2016.

Or maybe just a reveal over social media, instead of just Facebook or Twitter alone.

Edit: Yup, it's 2016 according to Bulbapedia too. Also, Bulbapedia's Go page has a tid bit that says "Junichi Masuda is looking for ways to connect GO with the next main core game entry". Now, I thoought they had already thought up of ways to link them when announced, but if they were still figuring it out then that can explain our delay in significant GO info, as well as an announcement of Z.

So what do you think GF will talk about first after looking at all his Twitter messages in the past 24 hours from now? Would it be GO or Z?

I also wonder about that message on Pokemon's twitter with 2016 projects folder saying "Hang in there."

Masuda is making it seem that news on both GO and Z is near. He is being very confusing and we have no idea what will be first.

Well, I have read rumors (not very trust worthy ones though) in the past few months that Z and GO will be released at the same time...I kind of doubt that, but I can see them talking about them at the same time.

Last question, do you think based on Masuda's Twitter activity that they are preparing for something soon?

I noticed back in December that they announced Volcanion with movie posters and trailer. Usually they announce just the movie posters and trailer in December. Event legendaries are usually announced in Jan/Feb. Seemed like a move to get Volcanion's announcement out of the way to clear up Jan/Feb.

Kind of have a feeling that they're preparing for something, might be more hints/teases or a real announcement.

Well, they have been saying that this year is going to be big for Pokemon. I do think that GF expanding themselves in the social media is clearly a sign of things to come pretty soon. TPCi's tweet with the Intern Pikachu(adorable by the way :3) and the 2016 folder I think is another strong hint.
