6th Gen X/Y Third Version Speculation Thread

I'm doubtful of seeing a big announcement about Z/sequel/third version before the release of the Gen 1 games on virtual console because it would distract from those.
As do I, but it seems like they'll setting stuff up for a reveal sometime before June.

I'm doubtful that an announcement for pokemon z would distract from the release of the Gen 1 games. People who want Gen 1 will probably be mostly long time fans and will get at least one of the games regardless of what else is announced.

Last question, do you think based on Masuda's Twitter activity that they are preparing for something soon?

I noticed back in December that they announced Volcanion with movie posters and trailer. Usually they announce just the movie posters and trailer in December. Event legendaries are usually announced in Jan/Feb. Seemed like a move to get Volcanion's announcement out of the way to clear up Jan/Feb.

That was my impression too :) trying not to get my hopes up though. I personally don't think the release of the Gen 1 games on the anniversary is doing enough justice to the 20th anniversary of pokemon. They need something else to make it a bigger deal ;)

Well, we might get an announcement a few days later if not on the 27th of February. The Kanto games sadly tend to get the short stick... in Japan Blue came out the same year as RG. In Japan Emerald was announced around 3-4 months after FrLg came out.

Come to think of it, I don't really see why there would be any big problems with "Z" being announced the same day that the VC releases are. I mean, it's not like they'll actually release "Z" on the 27th(which they won't). If they did that, then that would be a problem. I highly doubt that sales for the VC games will suddenly bomb on the 27th as soon as "Z" is announced, because they will still be buying and playing the VC games to hold them over until "Z"s release.

I think they should announce a Demo for Z available for those who buy RGBY for VC...it'll sell even more!

5 years later....

So, the most recently announced anime episode (909) is called Strongest Mega Battle! Greninja versus Mega Charizard (X). The episode features Greninja turning into Ash-greninja again. Now it's interesting how it's called strongest Mega battle as only one of them is known to be a Mega.

*sigh* if only people would sub pokemon more often, was surprised to see the subs are so far behind

Yeah, the site I see them in was two weeks behind, and barely caught up, thanks to the break...Btw...the US. XY & Z has yet to have a release date...I wonder if they'll announce the new games at that time to tie them in for international fans.

this always happens with the dub whenever a new season starts, they always keep it about 4 month to about a year away from the original, excluding some cases like master quest & X&Y sneak peak and in the case of that weird half season black & white ended with

though this ones kind of odd, because its the only season to start with a special & these mega evolution specials are weird as far as specials go given that most specials are not set up as this big of a side series.
also, mind pming me the link to the site you use?

On Pokenchi this week, there gonna show a 20th anniversary new years card from Masuda. It's the same thing with Red, Pikachu, and the Poke Balls making out the number 20.

There has been so much activity from both Pokemon Japan Twitter and Masuda's Twitter within the last 9 days.

My question is, whats the point of tweeting that Masuda's 20th anniversary new years card will be shown on Pokenchi when it's already been shown?

BTW, the tweet from that wasn't from Masuda he only retweeted it. It was tweeted by Pokemon's Japanese Twitter.

Hmm... it could be something interesting, I don't know. Both the Japanese account and Masuda will always retweet something about Pokenchi every week, so that alone isn't out of the ordinary. What catches my attention though is that there's a blue arrow pointing at the "20" in that picture, so we can assume they're going to be talking about the 20th anniversary in this week's episode. What is the episode description for this week's episode by the way, does anybody know?

EDIT: I've now noticed that 2 hours after he retweeted that, he also retweeted this vague message:

https://mobile.twitter.com/0220nicole/status/685040134148861952

IIRC, she's one of the cast members from Pokenchi, I think I recognize her anyways. Bing translates it to "Go Pokemon.com do", and Google translates it to "Komu spear Pokemon back home." That first one struck me as odd, so I went to both the English and Japanese websites. But there's nothing there, except for the 2016 VGC on the English site. Unless the translations are off, are they telling us to keep an eye out on the official website for something?

That tweet has Pokemon game in it 'Pokemon gemu', but I think it's talking about the game series over all. We shouldn't hype ourselves up...remember last time Masuda was said to be there for music and that was all he talked about... Compare to HgSs's or B2W2's announcements which promised big reveals/news.

Hmmm, I actually think a "Pokémon 'Z'" reveal on the same day as the release of the gen 1 Virtual Console ports seems very likely. Lately, Nintendo has been doing Direct presentations where they will talk about a demo or DLC or something similar, and then out of nowhere go, "And by the way, immediately after the Direct, you can download this thing from the eShop! Have fun!" Since we already know the release of the Virtual Console ports, it actually seems even more likely that Nintendo would do something like that. I can imagine such a Direct would talk about the ports--and subsequently, their same-day release--first thing, then some spin-off information, and culminate in a game reveal.

Well they finished with Smash bros so introducing some unexpected stuff at the end can fill the anticipation that the end had with the character reveals. Of course, Pokken characters can replace that until March...or longer if they do DLC.

When are gen one ports being released, precisely? I haven't been able to keep up with the news as much lately, haha.

They were gonna release them on February 27th, the 20th anniversary of the original Gen 1 games. According to the article on Serebii, that date is for Japan, Europe, and North America.
