6th Gen X/Y Third Version Speculation Thread

Just got posted. And those rumors I posted about earlier were proven false. All it says is that Volcanion hates humans, lol. It's not like he's been the only Legendary Pokemon to have a beef with humans...

EDIT: Oh... s***. Next month's issue is going to have a "World Exclusive Scoop poster and a major announcement that will affect the entire world". Donald Trump for Galactic New Order 2016?
It might be a Pokemon Z announcement but it might be something else as well. Just how big an announcement could this be? I've never really heard them use that terminology to describe a game before.

Its better not be another Stupid Mystery dungeon!!!
Also , I'm wondering if the magazine was talking about affecting Our world or Anime world ?
It probably won't be seeing as how PSMD hasn't even been released in Europe yet, but if I may ask just what is so bad about the Mystery Dungeon games? They might not be everyone's cup of tea but quite a few people like them, and they're certainly not bad games.

I'm not sure if Fanon has true dislike for the PMD games or not, but I have seen others bad mouth the spin offs as if they're the reason why we don't have Z yet. The wait is starting to get on people's nerves, more so those of us outside of Japan. I would say that the Japanese are more used to waits seeing how unlike us they have more gaps between main game releases (their last one in 2011 between the BW pairs, while our last gap while longer than now was back in 2008...eight years is enough for people to forget the long wait that made Gen IV's release schedule a torture (at least it was for me, but then again I skipped DP for Pt, but Emerald was so good that I didn't notice DP until Pt was close to coming out...)).

Isn't the commercial like thirty seconds or so? It'll be a Blink and you miss it moment either way in the ocean of longer Super Bowl commercials. Might even be as big as the first video we had of OrAs, which just showed the mascots and the game's names...

i doubt either will occur.
we already got mega evolution, primal reversion and ashgreninja(which looks a hell of a lot like burst digivolution and functions like matrix digivolution)
its like nintendo & game freak are taking bits & pieces from digimon anime's & attempting to make them their own but failing to see how short of the mark they are til it's to late

Except , We don't know if Ash-evolution is exclusive to Anime Or it can be done in the Game!
We might able to confirm this after the big announcement.
Also , Digimon itself was a ripoff of pokemon and they also copied "Gotta Catch "Em All" in Hunter series.
Who know , The Game might introduce "Gift System" where Trainer get a power as a gift from their closest pokemon ! For example : Ash receiving Wings as a gift from Charizard.
That would explain How Ash wrestling with Volcanion ! Maybe , He got something from Greninja that allow his to go head to head against Volcanion.

Or , It could be Pokemon X Human fusion.
Maybe , Zygarde goes beserk thanks to Team Flare So Ash & Greninja fuse into one being to bring down Zygarde.

Actually Digimon copied Tomagotchis, and I have a feeling that Pokemon also copied them. Even if Digimon did learn from Pokemon, right now it seems to be a 'teacher is learning from the student moment.'

Perhaps Corocoro will reveal Volcanion true power.

digimon was NOT a rip off of pokemon, it's a spin off of tamagotchi that evolved into its own franchise.
the main reason that stupid rip off crap sparked up is because it came out around the same time as pokemon & pokemon had more of a boom in popularity back in the days before the internet had the information flow it has now.
if digimon is a rip off of pokemon, then we mind as well call pokemon a rip off of coin collecting & gigantor(1963)
besides, every form of media since the dawn of humanities intelligence is made up of bits & pieces of something preexisting. blindly calling something a rip off that clearly isn't meant to be one is just stupidity.
i think you misunderstood what i meant in my previous comment, i was only mentioning how it looked like that's where the devs where getting their inspiration from.
its like trying to call yugioh a rip off of magic the gathering when the reality is it's biased on magic the gathering & has a more complex rule structure then magic. strangely enough its easy for an experienced magic player to get confused by yugioh's rules while an experienced yugioh player can easily get accustomed & comprehend magic's rules.
even though they seem similar, their completely different animals

Wow, I'm SOO looking forward to next months. LOT'S of great things will happen.. as for Braixen making it into Pokken.. it's interesting. A bit wierd, but interesting. I like how they pull out some certain pokemon nobody expected to be in this game, like Suicune, Gardevoir. Though this makes me think if Chesnaught will ever make it in..? If not, I really expect to see the Kalos starters get some "special treatment" in "Z".

And with all these events happening next month, it gives me a shimmer of hope of a main game announcement could be in the works.. either by some sudden hint in the Super bowl ad along with GO, or sometime after the 27th (since they want to show the best for last) either way, I don't expect CC to reveal it.. even though I wouldn't mind it at all, GF probably wants the fans to try out the VC, and that announcement would make alot of fans be anxiously waiting for "Z" to come out more than anything else.

But movie-wise, I expect Volcanion to have a form, and expect Zygarde to make a role in this movie since the info on Volcanion in the official website states: "It uses fire and water to create steam within its body, expelling explosive shock waves and boiling steam from the arms on its back. The power is said to be great enough to blow away an entire mountain, gouging out the earth and changing the shape of the land." That alone makes Zygarde fitting enough to stop it.

That being said, I think Volcanion's concept could be expanded to include multiple forms based on different power sources. This lines up very nicely with the locked doors in the Power Plant, which carries a similar theme. Going off that, the new forms would probably be Fire/Grass, Fire/Electric, Fire/Flying, and Fire/Ground.

How was it created? It could be definitely a Pyroar that was artificially modified by Team Flare, fitted with that "special" organ, powered by Infinity Energy. Volcanion has a cat-like face, it shares a color scheme or red and yellow and also the same eye color as Pyroar, and since you could assume Pyroar is Lysandre's favorite Pokémon, I believe you could assume he started experimenting on one, perhaps with the original purpose of creating the ultimate partner and saving people with such immense power, like he wanted to before, but instead it goes badly and turns out doing the opposite, similarly with the Ultimate Weapon and his and AZ's intentions with it.

About the formes. Isn't Volcanion's signature move Water? It'll be better if it kept it's typing, or gain more signature moves. Genesect's signature move shows what happens when one doesn't get STAB.

However , We should also ask ourselves-
Is this world shaking news about the game or movie ?
If its game , It has to be something surpassing Megevolution.
If Its movie , Then its probably a world wide release where all former character ( Misty , Brock , May & Dawn) reappearing .
Off course , A Time-travel movie where Ash goes to future and meet the older selves of all his traveling companion could be world shaking.

I really think we're getting an announcement next month too. My expectations are managed so i won't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen, but just from a marketing/maximum profit-making standpoint, it makes perfect sense.

We've got details on Zygarde (the likely protagonist pokemon in the movie), and Volcanion has been revealed (the likely antagonist pokemon in the movie). The xyz anime is going to debut on the 20th of February in the US, and there's strong focus on Zygarde in it already. So basically, the framework for the anime/movie/next game storyline has been laid in Japan and the US, the two main sources of the company's revenue.

In February, we've got the superbowl ad, we've got corocoro, the debut of the xyz anime and a likely Nintendo Direct on the 27th and the VC releases of the original games. All of that is the perfect sequence of events to start hyping up the release of a new main game. We may get a clue in the superbowl ad, another clue in corocoro (with focus on the movie) and then finally we'll get an announcement on the 20th anniversary.

The movie itself will come out in the summer, so it doesn't make sense to have the new game come out later in the year. It makes far more sense to announce it in February for a May/June release, before the hype starts to die down. And with the new game(s), they could also give out promotional wristwatch things that we saw in the Pokemon Go ad. It also makes sense for Pokemon GO to come out in summer so people can actually go outside and enjoy the game if they decide that they're bothered with it, lol.

I misinterpreted that sentence Serebii wrote. Apparently, the mews is regarding the movie. We all know Japanese exaggerate like a motherducker, so I wouldn't get any high hopes. Only thing I can think of is Volcanion's alternate forme or AZ Floette

Well Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum came out after Pokemon 4Ever, Destiny Deoxys, and Giratina and the Sky Warrior Shaymin respectively. If it's a third version it'll likely follow that pattern. The earliest I think we'll get a new game will be June if we get an announcement next month, as the shortest reveal and release gap up to now has been four months. A May release would be too rushed.

Also GO is slated to come out early 2016, so I think it'll come out earlier than June. Meanwhile Z will likely come after July, as it coming out by June would mean the rest of the year will be empty of Pokemon games...well maybe a Ranger spin off will come out later this year...

Pokemon likes anniversaries so I think that Z will be released in October, either the release of XY or Japanese Blue.

Yeah, i do think June is more likely. But we've all been expecting this game for a long time, so i disagree that it would be too rushed.

There's no point in releasing a Zygarde related game late in the year when the storyline in the anime is over/nearly over and the movie is no longer in theatres imo. It makes sense to make the most of the millions you're spending on pokemon promotion early in the year to drive game sales.

As for Go, they're going to have to do a ton of promotion to get that to work. A lot of people simply won't be interested because it's so different to how they've played pokemon for the last 20 years, and kids won't have unlimited funds to spend on it. I'll try it out, but once it starts making me charge my phone twice a day, i'll likely give up on it. So linking it with a new main series game would be a really good way to promote it.

Black and White 2 were released in June in Japan i believe, and since the sequel to X and Y will also likely be on the same day worldwide, it could happen!!!

There's no point in releasing a game or set of games on an anniversary if it makes no business sense. At the end of the day, nostalgic as it is, pokemon is a company that wants to make profit. They're releasing all the old games and hyping up the movie and spending five million on a superbowl ad, they've revamped their site and will be selling new 20th anniversary merch, all of which will get the marketing machine rolling if they decide to release a game in the first half of the year.

It would fall pretty flat if GF decided to release the game in October imo.

I'm not saying it's definitely going to happen, but if I were GF, i'd definitely use all the money i was spending on 20th anniversary promotion to also promote a new game, thereby easily making millions at the least cost to the company ;) Promotion at the beginning of the year and release in October just isn't taking advantage of that at all.

I feel it'd be nice to see Volcanion gain a fire-type signature as well, since it's partially fire and whatnot.
or a dual-typed move like flying press

Yes, I mentioned B2W2 as the exception before, but as you said they were sequels. We're not even sure what we're going to get.

I read on Gamespot or perhaps it was Gamefaqs that the commercial will not be focusing on a particular game. If that isn't just speculation on their part then I guess we can throw the commercial away like with next issue of Corocoro which will focus on the movie... Well there is a chance for 'Z' but it won't be the only focus of it it sounds like.

Though since I mentioned the history of the games, third versions (along with B2W2) tend to come out between six to four months after their reveals. Platinum along with the already mentioned B2W2 came out four months after May and February respectively. So, if we get a reveal next month but no release date I will bet on June being the release month. Perhaps on the third anniversary of B2W2 if they really need an anniversary to release them on xD. Which makes me wonder if they'll include the PWT too, as it is the 20th anniversary. It'll be awesome to see models of all the past characters (perhaps even with new clothes, because if you're going to the trouble of making models for them you might as well redesign their clothes while you're at it) and their Gen VI style teams.

The only thing that I've heard officially was that the commercial is to encourage fans to "train on", so far TPC hasn't said what is supposed to be in the commercial. But I'm almost betting that it will be Pokken footage with "We Will Rock You" playing as background music, since a fighting game would probably be more suitable to show during a major sporting event... that, and it seems to be the only game with the closest release date in relation to the commercial airdate. GO still has only a 2016 announcement, if it doesn't release until the latter half of this year I don't see a point in them giving us a commercial for it this early.

It looks like we've gotten some additional info on both Pokken and the movie today on Serebii. The mystery 'mon was a Chandelure, and some more support Pokémon were revealed(Magikarp? Are you kidding me?). Also interesting is that a brief summary for the Volcanion movie has been revealed, but yet still no movie title except what they have in place right now(Pokémon XY&Z: The Movie). The only reason I'm bringing these things up in this thread is that it seems we are starting to get more info on Pokken and Movie 19 well before February even starts, so it's starting to make me wonder if the "major announcement" in CoroCoro next month may be related to both GO and "Z" if it does turn out to be game-related in any way. I'm most likely wrong in all of this, but regardless I think the next couple months are going to be really interesting.

The movie takes place in the Azoth Kingdom. Project Azoth is an experiment in game for utulizing primal reversion's energy, which is stronger then mega evolution. What if there is a connection bwtween that and Volcanion?

Movie summary just came out and I haven't seen anything World shacking about it !

Actually Megevolution should be stronger then Primal reversion since Mega Rayquaza defeated Primal Groudon and Kyogre.

That's what went through my mind too. It may just be a coincidence and a reference like how Alain is referenced in ORAS, but very interesting nonetheless.
