6th Gen X/Y Third Version Speculation Thread

Let's hope Corocoro stays true to their promises and release the 'big news' next month and not postpone it.
I remember back in 2011 in December where Corocoro promised a new game reveal for their next issue (january 2012), and when that issue was final released, it didn't contain any game news, but instead another announcement for their next issue (where it was finally revealed in February)

Hey guys so what if Z version allows you to be gender fluid and cross dress? This would be very supportive of the lbgt community and i think everyone would appreciate it. just saying haha.

I want to ask you guys a question about Joe's post that I had just linked... he points out how the Japanese characters translates to "Pocket Monsters" instead of "Pokemon". How significant of a difference does that make for what the "big news" will be next month? I'm unfamiliar with how they market certain aspects of the franchise in Japan. The only thing I do know is that the Japanese logos for the main series games and anime translates to Pocket Monsters.

Alright, I've read him point this out a long time ago, and I've also noticed it myself. ポケモン (Pokemon) tends to be used in Japanese when it comes to spin offs, while ポケシトモンスタ (Pocket monsters, btw the third character should be a small tsu, but I couldn't get it smaller) is often used to refer to main games. For example look at Pokemon Yellow's Japanese intro on his Joe account, it says the second one, not the first.

Here's an example of a spin off's japanese name: ポケモン不思議のダンジョン 赤の救助隊 (that's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue team).

Why the heck would they have such a feature? I know next to no people that play Pokemon to crossdress. You'll want FFVII for that. (meheheheheh)

That is interesting... I sure hope this is our game, but we'll see. It's also interesting how he says that "big news" has never been announced in December before.

While I don't cross dress, there are some of the boys shirts in the games that I wish had female counterparts. I'm not too much of a fan of the super-frilly dress choices they gave the females.

Exactly what I said a page ago. I'm confident we'll get to know our 'Z' within a month now. I'm guessing a 4 month promoting period so the games can be released in April.

Thus bringing me to the next point: if Z is released in early 2016, when is Gen 7 then going to be released? That Pokemon GO timeline we've seen a few month ago clearly hinted at Gen 7 in 2016. Can that fit al into one year, or is Z going to be Gen 7?

I don't really understand the gender segregation of shorts and T-shirts (and hats particularly) either. Sure I can get the guys not getting to wear dresses or frilly skirts.. but how come girls can't wear ball caps and shorts? Or that Pancham hat? Not to mention the boys have a really tiny wardrobe compared to the girls, which doesn't make that much sense if you think about it.

Come to think of it neither do the bag options. Why are girls incapable of wearing backpacks?

Well it was mostly meant to show how long the series has gone on with each gen pair marking a milestone, and 2016 merely being the 20th anniversary. However, back in 2004 Japan got FrLg and a few months later Emerald. Since this Gen took the Gen III pattern but with the one year gap between games shited over perhaps so will the gap that was present between FrLg and Emerald move over to Z and the Gen VII pair. Then by 2018 we can get the 3rd version of Gen VII, and by 2020 we get DP remakes for their 14th anniversary (continuing the pattern of remakes 2004-1996 is 8, 2008-1998 is 10, 2014- 2002 is 12, and 2020- 2006 is 14, as you can see the gap between between remake and original is growing by 2 at least for the first three Gen's and their remakes).

Edit: The movie also use Pocket monsters, instead of the Pokemon (abbreviation in Japanese), so, we have like 49 percent movie news, 49 percent game news, and 2 percent both (like B2W2's reveal issue).

There's a Zygarde joke in there somewhere, but I can't think of any lol.

If the issue next month does end up having something about the upcoming game, I wonder if we should start looking out for a surprise announcement from anywhere between now and then. It's possible that we could get an announcement through a surprise video or something, and then the "big news" in CoroCoro could be follow-up information plus stuff about the upcoming movie. That's not to say we won't get the official announcement in CoroCoro, because I think it's possible that this could be it. They did that before with Platinum, which was a 3rd version, so I don't see why they can't do it again.

Interestingly Ash-Greninja's transformation episode might be the one airing on the 10th of next month, maybe we'll find out more about it before corocoro, if it is a canon thing in the games.

I don't see Gen 7 coming out in 2016. First off, 7th gen will last until the end of the year, on average the episodes per season is 48 to 52. Sometimes more. The movie doesn't come out till July and I just don't see them bringing out 2 sets of games in the same year. I don't think there is any hope, what so ever that the 7th Gen will start next year. We might see 7th Gen pokemon, but that is all.

If I had to guess, I would say Pokemon Z will be between Early Spring to Later Summer or so. These are the American release dates. Japanese is usually earlier other than the past few games.

Red and Blue - September 28, 1998
Yellow - October 18, 1999
Gold and Silver - October 15, 2000
Crystal - July 30, 2001
Ruby and Sapphie - March 17, 2003
FireRed and LeafGreen - September 9, 2004
Emerald - May 1, 2005
Diamond and Pearl - April 22, 2007
Platinum - March 22, 2009
HeartGold and Soul Silver - March 14, 2010
Black and White - March 6, 2011
Black and White 2 - October 7, 2012
X and Y - October 12, 2013 (Worldwide Release)
OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire - November 21, 2014 (Worldwide Release)

March, September, and October a are the main months it would seem. With this knowledge and the movie coming out in July.

March 12th or March 19th for Z is my best guess.

And Pokemon 7th Gen will probably be in March or October 2017. This depends on if there will be a 4th movie in the 6th Gen, which I think there will be, in which case it will be October or November 2017.

Uh, were you around during Gen IV? HgSs also overshadowed DPP. I think the only remakes that didn't overshadow the new region's games were FrLg and that's because no one expected them. Also unlike Pt and XY, RS had a year of events without no new main game rivals (which is ironic as back in those days events were harder to get for some of us).
heart gold & soul silver came out after the 4th gen had ended and where made to stall off time tile the 5th gen came.
all the remakes other then OR/AS where made to add the 2 gen that where cut out of the connectivity of the games back in and the update their stat system.

kinda need to add something to that list:

Red, Blue, Green(japan only) & Yellow anniversary redux February 27th 2016

Since X/Y and ORAS released worldwide, I just about bet that "Z" is going to be released worldwide as well. A really good indicator is how the official English website updated with the Zygarde Forme info hours after they were first revealed in Japan via CoroCoro. Even though that was primarily anime info at the time, why release that info worldwide when the XY&Z anime is only airing in Japan right now.

Which reminds me... you guys know what else is coming in December other than this CoroCoro? The XY&Z anime will most likely start airing sometime in the United States. Either the 26th of December or 2nd of January, since the last episode of the current XY season is on the 19th of December. Providing the game actually does get a worldwide announcement and release, it would be perfect timing for CoroCoro and the official website to announce it shortly before XY&Z starts airing in the US.

Japanese dates would be a better indicator than say American dates, as Japan is the main focus...

In Japan it's usually September.
Pokemon Red and Green- February 27, 1996 (remaster on the same day, 2016)
Blue- October 15, 1996
Yellow- September 12, 1998
Gold and Silver- November 21, 1999
Crystal- December 14, 2000
Ruby and Sapphire- November 21, 2002
FrLg- January 29, 2004
Emerald- September 16, 2004 (first time since Japanese Blue that a game came out the same year as a another pair)
Diamond and Pearl- September 28, 2006
Platinum- September 13, 2008
HgSs- September 12, 2009 (barely a day off from Pt's one year anniversary)
Black and White- September 18, 2010 (at this point Japan got three games in a row in september for three years)
Black 2 and White 2- June 23, 2012 (first time that Japan didn't get a game in September since 2004 when FrlG came out...)
XY- October 10, 2013
OrAs- November 21, 2014
As you can see late Summer (the early september ones), and Fall are the usual release times. None have come out in Spring, while Winter has RG, their remakes, and their releases (Crystal came out in late Fall)... Since we're getting releases I would count out Winter, and Spring is a main game dead zone...I would say that Summer 2016 (anytime between late June- mid September is fair game) is our best bet for a release that isn't fall.

Red, Blue, Green(japan only) & Yellow anniversary redux February 27th 2016

Uh, the remakes are part of the gen they come in too, so HgSs were the end of Gen IV. Btw OrAs was only a semi-world release in the major countries, as it come out in Europe on the 28th or sometime around there.

This might be a little off-topic, but what's that about? I haven't heard of it until now.
I'm surprised you haven't. It was announced at last week's ND. They're re-releasing R(G)BY over th Virtual Console for the 3DS.

Well, 3 more weeks until we hear "big news"... I say 3 because we'll probably get leaks approximately around the 10th-11th like we did this month. :3 The 15th falls on a Tuesday this time.

You know what would be so scary? If it gets announced we could hear giant footsteps of Complete Forme outside our living room windows... I know I'm weird, but I just thought of that out of randomness.

EDIT: Well, this is interesting:

If this is to be believed, Ash Greninja is looking to be anime-exclusive. I still really hope that the Kalos Starters get Mega-Evolutions in "Z" though, because I think that would make the Tower of Mastery mini-plot in X/Y have more impact and relevancy than just a random Lucario who barely even knows you.

Not to mention that it usually leaks on the 13th (which would be Sunday) at the latest, so the chances are very high for us to know what it's all about in three weeks. (10-13th).
