    360 The New Dreamcast

When the Sega Dreamcast came out it was awesome and it came out before the other competition... Then after a while the Playstation came out and as soon as anyone bothered to think about the future of the Dreamcast if was dead.

Now Microsoft has brought the 360 to the market...well before the PS3 and Revolution...Do you think Sony is just waiting them out so they can once again steal the show?

It may well be history repeating itself, we'll just wait and see.

*gasp* My dream of death to Xbox finally has a chance of happening!

Don't get your hopes up, Microsoft has stated that they will try again if the XBox 360 fails.

The bad thing is Micro$oft has the $ to try again. >>

That freakin blows. Why dont they just stay down. This isnt a Rocky movie.

Just let them waste money on another X box. almost zero doubt in my mind that it's going down. if they follow up with another generation then history will flash back on them again. and also...they declare they'll try again if they fail? they sound like they have no faith in their own invention. why not, MAKE IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME

the 360 is nothing like the dreamcast

The dreamcast had good games and was actually worth considering.

I contest, the 360 has good games, Call of Duty 2, and Full Auto.
I think Sega only had what DDR, Crazy Taxi, Soul Callibur, and the short lived Panzer Dragoon series...hehehe you know what 2 of those are huge even right now...so my guess is that the 360 will fall just a little bit faster...nut much though.

OK i've got a Dreamcast and I've seen the 360, allready it's looking like a one way ticket down for microsoft, anyway what i've heard is that: the 360 has only 1 conrtoller port, and can't play original Xbox games.

Too much fanboyism nowadays.. not talking about anyone in particular in this thread.. but people seriously need to accept consoles/handhelds for what they are, and not be on the "hating bandwagon", that alot of people are on, with no real valid reasons for the unnessary hate, other then being "loyal" to Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo etc.

Anywho, it was a really bad move for Microsoft to release two different systems... that definatly hurt it, thats for sure. Especially making a riduculously low amount at launch, making it really hard to get one even a day after. (what the hell were you thinking MS?)

But I don't see it having the same fate as Dreamcast. As good as the Dreamcast is, it just kind of "popped up" out of nowhere, and nobody was really sure what to expect from it. The Xbox should have suffered the same thing, but I guess Microsoft wasn't going to let that happen.

According to analists, XBox360 will be the most sold console worldwide. You can read the article here.
Unfortunately, the website is in Spanish, but I guess most of you know Spanish, don't you?

Never going to happen. Sure the Rev might beat the 360 (I'm counting on it). But Sony owns most of the system market (not counting handhelds). Are they going to take a back seat ride for the next gen? I don't think so. And I'll tell you the main reason why. Japan. It's as simple as that, sure the US makes up the second largest on game sells world wide. But in Japan they got laws on when you can't sell games (what day of the week) and they even got a law on a few games (where you can't take days off to go play ... game). They are the largest when it comes to games. And since Microsoft made a poor poor opening in Japan the 360 is doing poor there. Click below for the Japan 360 sells.

Another bad thing they did was make a bad mark in Europe (the 3rd largest) when the X-Box came out (they also didn't like the system). Both Nintendo and Sony has a good footing in the US, Japan and Europe. And all Microsoft has is the US (and even here it couldn't beat the PS2 and didn't get all that many more sells then the GC). They won't be on top for the next gen... well they are right now. But once the PS3 and the Revolution comes out they will lose that spot.

It seems Arcanine isn't a fool. Cuz the article and everything I said was a joke. You would figure out if you clicked the link in the article. Today is December 28th the "Dia de los Inocentes" in Spain and Latin America. So know you know, never trust a Spanish website on December 28th. Congratulations, Arcanine, you were the only one that wasn't fooled!

Xbox will not be out of business, ever.
Have you forgotten who runs it? One of the biggest businesses in the world: Microsoft. Bill Gates could fund the whole thing himself if he had to.

He could...but hasn't...I mean come on it means nothing to Bill Gates if he lost billions of dollars...heres an example: The X-Box, it lost a ton of money. Microsoft won't give up, but they may eventually just stop trying to make new systems.

Just curious why was the thread name changed? Its totally misleading now.

Microsoft are just trying to cash in on the sucsess of nintendo and sony.

Metroid and Halo are very simmilar IMO (not the plot or whatever but the whole idea)
maybe its just one of those coincidences

My friend who owned an Xbox sold it and got a DS and a GC with the money he got. He's been enjoying it alot more.

My other friend wants an Xbox360 I told him about the shortage thing in the UK he bought a GC after playing Metroid Prime 2 at my house.

I dunno if its just me or is Microsoft and the Xbox losing its touch

Probablly because both of them are FPS's?

Microsoft is, imo, not losing its touch just yet. But I agree on the point that the XBox is.

    Seto: 2 threads were merged.

The X-Box has lost it's touch... if you can say it had one (Microsoft software I like). It's not going to go the way of the Dreamcast because Microsoft has everything from Windows (that is installed on like every new computer), to Microsoft Office, to Street Maps, to IE, to WPM and so on. So what if they lose hundreds on every X-Box and 360 sold. They just got more money where that came from. Both Sony and Microsoft isn't in the gaming business to make money (do they make money off their systems? No), they are just in it to be at the top (and maybe to pull in sells for other things, I mean you got a Sony PS2, you need a new DVD/VCR and a new TV, owning one Sony thing might get you to buy another). And that's why X-Box just won't go away, if the 360 goes under you'll see another system from Microsoft pop up.
