XD, Every one from my school and places like that use "lol", and I can't stand but a few people in my area/city so I use XD, plus "lol" seems alittle to prepy for me. But thats just me.

I hardly use lol...most people use it like Pinky uses "Narf" on Pinky & the Brain (I hope some people understand this o_O ) XD is nice and an all-purpose emoticon; I like it because it conveys more emotion than lol ever could...

I use LOL. It took me awhile to understand what XD is. When I first saw it, I thought it was laughing as you die or something. I don't always use LOL for laughter though; I use it also to demote any seriousness that could've been conveyed in my text. LOL

That's what I use smilies, "lol", "rofl", "lmao" and all that stuff for too. XD

Anyway... I tend to use both of them. I normally use "XD" if I don't really mean it, though, and like t89 said, I normally use "lol" to show I'm poking fun at something or I'm not really serious.

=o When I'm really amused, I'll just say "XD Rofl" or something like that. XP

Anyway, personally I think you use XD a lot. Many times, I'll say something and you'll reply with just XD. But then again, you know yourself better than I do.
