Yahoo email notification gone

    I hope this is where this goes, I have yahoo email and also have a messenger that pops up a notification at the bottom right hand side of my laptop when ever I get a new message, for some odd reason it stopped popping up for new messages a couple of days ago, I have not changed any thing with it at all, I checked to make sure that it was still set that way through the yahoo messenger it's self and it was, I done every thing I could think of (even using different yahoo mail address) and still nothing, I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still no help, any answers or help?

    I don't suppose you have a filter active that prevents you from seeing these, or a do not disturb option on?

    To tell you the truth I have no idea, I man it was working fine 3 days ago, but (don't know if this can affect it) but I did by accident while cleaning my laptop wiped every button, I had an H button go weird on me, every time I would type an H it would make the screen scroll, I had to do a restore to fix that, didn't notice messenger wasn't working til after, I have tried maybe 3 more restore points and none helped.

    EDIT: Ok some thing I just noticed, when I type the ' button it pops up the ctrl + f search thing at the bottom.

    Goddamn, that sounds catastrophic.

    Uhhhh....I'd definitely say check the options of messenger one more time. I've never experienced something like this. Wish I could help more.
     
    Well thanks for trying, I only really need it for pop ups here i there another messenger I can use besides yahoo or msn? I tried to DL msn last night ind it was taking forever so I cancelled it.

    MSN was officially discontinued roughly 2 or 3 years ago. It's been replaced by Skype in terms of being an IM chat client (though Skype is a resource and bandwidth hog).

    I don't use my yahoo for IM chatting, I use it for just to tell me when I have a new email message.

    I use windows 7, but have been using the yahoo email thing since I had windows 98 and this issue just started a couple of days ago.
     
    Ok I still have this issue, I found out today that yahoo disabled that feature on the messaging about a month ago, I have looked into other emails and such but nothing was as good at notifying me of new email messages, AOL just made a "Dinging" sound, who know who messaged me, Gmail pops up a really quick mail thing that says "Happy Birthday", still not know who it came from, and since yahoo is no help now, what is every one else using to be notified of a new message and where it came from? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
