    ANN News Report

    In rather disturbing news this weekend, the creator of "Crayon Shin-chan," Yoshito Usui, was confirmed dead this weekend. More information in the article.

    I was shocked when I read it in the news this morning.
    It didn't sound good when they found a "dead body that looked like Mr. Usui", but having it confirmed really hurts.

    No more Shin-chan, no more epic Shin-chan movies... I hope not.
    The ending of the serialization hurts in itself too.

    I watched a couple dub episodes of Crayon Shin-Chan and my friends and I are like laughing. The art style is weird (though I understand why it's like that XD), but it was funny for the most part.

    Even though I don't know too much about him, have to say it's shocking he died. Makes you realize deaths can happen like that, which is quite a sad thought.

    I'm confused, though. One update says he might die from lung collapse, while the other says from falling off the cliff or whereever he was taking pictures at: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-09-20/body-identified-as-crayon-shin-chan-yoshito-usui

    This is so tragic. That series was really popular in Japan, and it is still is til this day! I wasn't a fan of the anime or manga, but I knew how popular it was to everyone else. He was a great artist with talent. He is going to be well missed. When I heard the news that they found a body that kinda looked like him, I knew that the end was near. *sigh* Another one we lost...

    R.I.P. Yoshito Usui....my condolences to his friends and family over this tough time.

    that's really tragic! i love shinchan so much since i was young ;;

    I saw the news when he'd gone missing. There had been another disappearance not long before this, that of Sakai Noriko, where the last cell phone signal was also recorded in the mountains. It turns out she was hiding in Tokyo to avoid the police and I had hoped that Usui was hiding for some reason or another and not, as it turns out, dead. It's a real shame.

    ^ That is very true. He just wanted to take a few pictures, and he just slipped and fell. What a bad way to go. Totally unexpected! :<

    Ah! I get it now. :O Dang that would be nice if he were okay somewhere else, but that wasn't the case. What a tragic accident. :<
