Kanto is the best! And the only reason I think this is because of Charizard! Johto has pretty cool Pokemon too, and Hoenn, but Kanto is still the best. Go Kanto Pokemon!
Johto. The Kanto Pokemon were nice but were rather limited with their overall strength and durability and selection of abilities, thus being rather finite for creativity or alternatives. (At R/B I had only three decent Pokemon to use and one was Mewtwo.). Whereas the Johto ones had a creativity and expansion and showed that there are other options (Like the Dark/Steel to the overused Psychics) out there. If only someone would explore them and the Pokemon, you cared about them and showed a lovely heightening to the mythos (both Ho-Oh's shtick and our own society's in general).
G/S blew my mind with all the possibilities there were and I played and acted on them nicely and it changed my way of thought of the game completely.
The Hoenn lot, beyond a few, I rather don't care about them. Just felt rather mechanical in the majority of the roster. Groudon/Kyorge being one of the main exceptions.
A pity. I hope the next lot will be more creative.
You're so right, you can't beat the original. While the artwork in the Hoenn series is beautiful the storyline of the episodes in Kanto are the best in my opinion.
Can't beat the old. Kanto all the way. Back then they were simple and nice. I dragon spitting fire and a turtle shooting water.
I didn't like Jhoto much but they were ok. It just that they made them so smooth. Like they were neo. What ever that means but it just decribe them the best. The only thing was dark and steel.
Hoenn was trying to hard to be cool.
Storylines are getting great it just I think they need to stop making new pokemon. But Kanto beats them all.
I still think that the original was the best. Complexity wasnt a big thing in Red/Blue/Yellow. Stalemate matches were few in number and annoying moves were only annoying not the decision to the entire match. When you saw that two trainers had excelent strategy and countinued down the match until both of them had to use Struggle was what resulted in some of the most exciting matches. Plus to see a Tangela stand upon a KO'd Mewtwos body was just as exhilirating. (I was the one with the Tangela). Gold/Silver/Crystal were great but not as good as the original. True they opened up new pokemon and new posibilities, but some of the moves truly were responsible for ending matches. I absolutely hate when battles go punch for puch. There is no strategy, or finesse. I love my deffense and showmanship. I LOVED to see the look on a persons face when they pulled out an Exeggutor out to face my Slowbro and my Slowbro hit him with Fire Blast. Im sure youre confuzed but yes Slowbro can learn Fire Blast in R/B/Y. I do not own Ruby/Saphirre/Emerald and the extended versions of Fire Red/Leaf Green but allot of the moves did get on my nerves when I played my cousins versions, like Protect. Tag team combat is kewl but it compleately throws the type strategy rulebook out the window. Personaly I think that an Onix should never beat a Lapras (mind you that they would both be on level 100) but tag teaming allows that possibility now. When games become too complex sure there is allot of strategy to consider, but I ask you this, "Where has the FUN gone to?"
I like the Hoenn generation the best. There are tons of competitive battling Pokemon(Like Salamence and Gardevoir), so that's why I like the Hoenn generation of Pokemon.
I like the Johto generation the most, as it introduced my favourite ever Pokemon- Tyranitar! And I still regard Pokemon Gold and Silver as the best Pokemon games, as they introduced the day and night factor, and introduced the Johto generation. Plus the Legendary Pokemon for this lot are so cool...
I'm more familier with the Kanto ones and like these ones quite alot. Also like the Johto ones too. But I think the Hoenn ones are the good ones. I like new things and well... these are new.
I like tons of pokemon from every generation, but as far as the games go I'd say the Johto Generation (GSC). I loved the Johto region. I also liked that the game was a lot longer than the others. You had sixteen badges to earn instead of eight. You actually had to do quite a bit of stuff before you'd completely beaten the game and it became so boring that the only thing you could do was start over. I also remember trying to get that Buena's password thing every evening, and going around new areas at different times of the day to see if anything interesting happened. The game stayed interesting longer that way. Not to mention I'm a big Kamon fan *is shot*.
Hoenn is my second favorite region, but really only because it has some cool towns and gym leaders (haha).
And as you may be able to tell, I'm not really into battling my friends or anything like that. lol.
