Your opinion about cloning

    What's your opinion about cloning?

In my opinion, cloning is something like a hack...
You catch a shiny pokemon, you clone it and you trade it to 10 people...
Then you have your shiny pokemon and other 10 shinies...
And instead of spending 15 hours to chain them, you spend half an hour to clone them.

I will never clone and I believe that the pokemon trainers who know how to play mustn't clone.

    Think about it.

Cloning isn't something really important. If you get something rare when you trade a good clone, that's good for you. It doesn't really matter much to me.

Well, I don't trade them. I only make clones to get extra items.

I have no problem with cloning. It's just players exploiting a glitch and reaping its benefits. Plus, there is no difference between the original and the clone. Hacking to me is more along the lines of using another device to alter the game directly to your benefit like Gamesharks and Action Replays. If some people didn't clone, then events like Eigaken Shaymin would probably never or rarely make it outside of Japan.

The only issue I have with your example is that you say the person should just chain them. However, there are a very good amount of Pokemon that are unchainable and take well over a month to attain. If a person wants to EV train a Pokemon and have some clones n the event that he screws up, is fine by me. I do agree that a person should just chain more Shinies if they want to trade them off. A thing that I believe cloning has ruined is the fun in trading since both players get to keep what they're trading off. But cloning also prevents any loss in the event that you are traded a hack.

Well, I clone. Personally I wish you couldn't. Its like, when you trade, you and your opponent just gain a poke instead of losing one and gaining one. And you cant say 'I wont clone if you don't' as its hard to trust them. So even though I do it, I wish you couldn't :(

I don't care. Every Pokemon I trade is a clone. There's really nothing wrong with it in my eyes.

Pokemon trades are made to lose 1 pokemon and get another one
If it was made to get an extra pokemon without losing yours, then you would only choose the pokemon you wanted to give to your friend for free
And also, as the name says, it is a trade. That means that you give something for something else, and the thing you give is givent to the other person.
That;s my opinion and if they fix cloning at Platinum, you will still be able to move your poke to D/P, so cloning may be stopped at the 5th generation.
Think about it, it is against you to clone. Let's say that you spent 20 hours IV breeding an Abra for example. Then you EV train your almost perfect pokemon and then... free IVed and EVed Alakazam to everyone... Then you get another 10 IV and EVed pokemon and you do not have to spend 20*10=200 hours to train then...
So if you want to play less pokemon, carry on, keep cloning.

That's my opinion, and if someone clones, I don't care, it's his disadvantage.

    Houndoom, don't be a sexist

To me, cloning is OK as long as it is an accidental glitch because of Nintendo. Cloning should be taken advantage of if it's there. If it was there all previous generations, it will be there in the 5th generation. Nobody is willing to give up a precious Pokemon anymore. Neither am I.

just think of trades as in the episodes...
in the old episodes, ash traded a butterfly for something i don't remember (they were on the ship)
but then he wanted his pokemon back... if he cloned it , he wouldn't have any problem...
    peoplr mustn't clone

    ok but think this too:
you have a shiny Abra and your friend has a shiny Bibarel
you trade them and he takes yours and you take his
if you clone, you only take his and he only takes yours

    Me: Hey, clone that thing!
    Him: How?
    Me: Blablabla
    Him: COOL

    We live happily ever after

    The End. Problem solved.

Umm.. Yes? I really don't think that was needed. Their fault, our win. It's just a game. Those Pokemon are just bits of data. Add imagination and stir...

But you, my friend, hath added a bit too much of it. :/

    OK, you choose.
But imagine without the cloning:you have a shiny butterfree and you trade it for a shiny raticate. Then you ONLY have a shiny raticate and your friend ONLY has the shiny buttefree.
With the cloning glitch:you have a shiny butterfree and you trade it for a shiny raticate. Then you have a shiny raticate AND a shiny butterfree. your friend has a shiny butterfree AND a shiny raticate...

What's better? Finding an ultra rare pokemon and spending hours thinking if you prefer the other than this or just give the cloned pokemon away without even thinking it?

Back during my days as a GSC player, I find the cloning glitch to be indispensable to my team. It made training much easier and the fact that it was incredibly simple made it fun. When the third generation came about, I used the glitch only to train my pokemons to the right level (So I can play BF on open level with incredible ease.). As for the fourth gen, I barely use the cloning glitch due to how unimportant it is for me (And because I don't know how to do the glitch in DP lol.).
Basically, I find it to be a fun glitch that's easy to use (For me at least.)

I don't have any time for thinking. I prefer to think in Algebra but for a game? No. The games are just for fun. If I don't want to challenge myself, I don't. It leaves less regret to both of us as well as mutual advantage. All human beings have a little bit of selfishness, but as long as there is mutual advantage, it is not a sin.
