Awhile back it was discovered you can use a certain program and Dns settings to send .PKM files to games from a false server, in a similar manner to how events work. The goal is that when you link up to the GTS, the server sends .PKM file to your game cart as if you had just received it in a trade.
Now, while this method will only allow you to send pokémon that the games consider "legit", many players find this method to be abhorrent, saying that its no better than using a cheat code. Others find it to be a godsend, as you can set up a .PKM file of an event pokémon (letsa say, for example, TRU Arceus) which can then be distributed to people who could not reach the events or missed them for other reasons (though any pokemon can be set up on these servers).

What is your opinion on this discovery, yay or nay, and why?

What's the point? Why not just use an AR or trade with a friend who DID go to the event. Or, if you can connect to the GTS, why not scour for an event Pokemon?! To me, this is pointless.

I think its inappropriate really. you want an event, go to a real event.

    A) Hope you guys can pull together enough money to buy me a flight down to the event. If you're lucky there might be one on about 150 miles away or so, one can only hope. :|
    B) This essentially IS an AR, except you don't have to pay for it.
    C) How did my friend get an event Pokemon? Why would anyone put one on the GTS?

tl;dr Not everyone can get to an event. "Get an AR" is pretty silly, because it's the exact same thing as this. I for one will probably use the program at some point, when I want to get some event things.

I agree. There is never events where I live either. Plus, you could get cheated out on GTS.

The one cool thing I've seen as a result of this is there's a Pokemon fan site, I don't recall the name but I stumbled across it one night, that is using this method to create their own special event Pokemon that they're distributing each month for their members. The disclaimer said that they won't use their servers to create real event Pokemon, or abhorrently powerful hack Pokemon (for example, the first event Pokemon they created was a level 30-something Jigglypuff, the only special thing about it was I think a really good nature and some good move, but again, nothing uber powerful or something Jiggly could never learn on it's own).

Basically, this is one of those things that yes, people will use it to cheat, but they do that already with the AR, so it's not changing much. It does create the possibility for websites such as the one I found to make a little something extra and fun for their members and has some potential to add a little extra fun to it, imo.

its good for people who cant get to TRU or gamestop for events but it should only be used for that cus then it takes the point out of the game

Not everyone can go to every event. Not everyone has access to the events as some are the Battle Revolution exclusives, etc.; I know the site that OP is talking about very well and use it all the time.

The things with ARs is that they cost like $20 a pop and they get outdated fast. This is essentially PokeSav without buying the AR and making the Pokemon from scratch.

Also, who wants to scour for an event Pokemon that could also be hacked? That seems like a really big waste of time.

I support that site hugely; I have an account on it and really love the easy access.

Don't revive threads this old please! :)
