Multiple charts since we've seen various "official" orders over the years. Excludes alphabetical since that would vary by language.

No Legendaries/Mythicals. Regional variants can count as either that form's Gen. or the original's (Alolan Marowak could count as Gen. VII or Gen. I, for example).

Extended game (optional): Pick up to 6 years significant to you, then use the chart(s) to make a team based on those years.

Well I was born prior to gen 1 so guess I'm not using birthyear =P
I don't exactly remember what year I started playing gen 1 specifically either. I was a wee little tyke.
If I had to guess I'd go with either 1999 or 2000. Might not be accurate though.

So... Gen 2 Grass type / Gen 2 Ice type. Meganium / Swinub.
Or Gen 2 Poison / Gen 2 Ground type. Crobat / Swinub.
or Gen 2 Electric / Gen 2 Grass. Lanturn / Meganium.
Or Gen 2 Electric / Gen 2 Ice. Lanturn / Swinub.

Any significant year works tbh, such as the year you graduated, got married, etc.

Also, I just added another chart based on the order used during XY's Fairy-type reveal trailer.

Ok, so Gen 3 Ghost, Ground, or Poison type, going by these orders, since I started playing Pokemon in 2003.

    This leaves me with options of: Sableye, Nincada/Shedinja, Shuppet/Banette, Duskull/Dusclops, Trapinch/Vibrava/Flygon, Baltoy/Claydol, Marshtomp/Swampert, Numel/Camerupt, Barboach/Whiscash, Gulpin/Swalot, Serviper, Dustox, and Roselia.

Of these, I think I'd pick Banette. I like Ghost types a lot and I've always had a soft spot for it and its pre-evo. That being said I'd be fine running a full team based off of these; Banette, Claydol, Swampert, Flygon, Swalot, and Dustox.

I'd get Gen. II Electric/Grass/Poison/Water going by the year I got into Pokémon, or Gen. II Fighting/Ice/Rock/Flying going by the year I started playing.

Obviously gotta go with Ice, and Sneasel would be my pick.

My multi-Pokémon team might include Hoppip (for the year I got into Pokémon), Sneasel (for the year I started playing the core series), Luxio (graduation), and Purrloin (for the year I got my cat). I might also have Yanma/Escavalier and Gallade/Froslass if I were to double-up on any years, though having them is a little harder to imagine (Yanma on account of its supersonic wings and potential to evolve into a total monster).

Was born in 2007 which gives me Gen 4 Rock, Electric, Grass and Bug; which means I can choose my favorite Pokemon, Yanmega, as my partner. Could also make a full team out of just those types. Luxray, Yanmega, Leafeon, Rotom, Cherrim and Rhyperior. Wouldn't be particularly good competitively, but could easily get me through the main story.

As I was born prior to 1995, these rules require me to use the year I both got into Pokemon and started the core games which is 2001.

That gives me gen II: Flying, Rock, Fighting and Ice.

This unfortunately doesn't give me a lot of personally appealing choices. I don't use Rock or Ice, I have never found them all that useful and I don't recall Gen II having exclusive fighting types other than Tyroge and Hitmontop which are bleh.
