I think it is VERY important to correct someone when they are giving incorrect info, so thanks for deciding to post.

As for your new team Blackbird, remember not to have two attacking moves of the same type (i.e. Flamethrower and Fire Blast). It is redundant and takes the spot of a move that could make your Poke more versatile.

Thank you, sir, for being one of the only forum people I have seen in quite some time who reacts well to criticism. It is about time I find somebody who admits they are incorrect and is rather glad that somebody pointed out their error(as opposed to screaming insults at me and anyone else who reads this topic). You have no idea how utterly shocked I was when I read your post. ><

That says something about most forums, doesn't it? lol

Anyway(in an effort to keep this post somewhat on-topic), BB is doing fairly well considering he is not battling at a tournament level on this version yet(that I know of). I do have one question though, BB. If you hacked the game or whatever to get an Arcanine and Politoed(I don't really do any hacking stuff, so this all seems like gibberish to me), why didn't you just hack to get a Metagross instead of a Metang?

    ... Well, I wonder.

well some move tips if ur i lilycove or comin up to it buy a tm of thunder and swap that with kadbra's shock wave
for pelliper get a beeter water move other than water gun
alot of people wont agree with me on this but get the TM of blizzard at lilycove and teach it to some1 like pelipper because blizzard is really really helpful in the E4
i remember when i used my old exploud againsti think its drake who had all the dragon pokemon but it was lvl 55 and i beat em all but the attak does miss alot but it hits both enemies in a 2 v 2 battle

My updated Emerald team (I've got all 8 badges now):

    Gyarados:
    Lv.38
    (holding Mystic Water)

    Strength
    Waterfall (for field purposes)
    Dragon Rage
    -

Right I need some advice for this one. I'm considering Earthquake for the fourth move slot and Dragon Dance will most likely replace Dragon Rage later. Any suggestions?

    Torkoal:
    Lv.34
    (holding Quick Claw)

    Protect
    Body Slam
    Iron Defence
    Flamethrower

I need some serious advice for this one having never raised one before. This is the fire type on my team as I couldn't think of any other pokemon to put in its place. Would it be better to just teach another pokemon a fire type move instead or what?

    Swellow:
    Lv.38
    (holding Macho Brace)

    Fly
    Endeavor
    Aerial Ace
    Quick Attack

I hate this but I need a pokemon who can fly. I don't want a Skarmory. Crobat sounds like and interesting replacement if someone could give me a moveset and some advice. It can definately learn Fly right? Any advice?

    Swampert:
    Lv.38
    (holding Soft Sand)

    Dive (for field purposes)
    Surf
    Mud Shot
    Take Down

    Any advice on this one?

    Breloom:
    Lv.40
    (holding Shell Bell)

    Mach Punch
    Mega Drain
    Stun Spore
    Sky Uppercut

I like this Pokemon! I wish it could still learn Spore after it evolves though... :(
    Advice?

    Gardevoir:
    Lv.40
    (holding Kings Rock)

    Psychic
    Calm Mind
    Shadow Ball
    Thunderbolt

Fantastic Pokemon! Probally my favourite on the team. Shadow ball is so so. I could replace it if there is something better I could teach my Gardevoir.

Question 1: What is the difference between Mystic Water and Sea Incence?

Question 2: I noticed after my Mudkip evolved into Marshtomp (Its now a Swampert) it was holding Soft Sand which I didn't give it. How and why did this happen?

I can't really answer your questions..nor do I think I'm truly qualified to judge but your Gardevoir does seem a good pokemon. As for your fire type, I have the same problem with my Camerupt. And I'd like you to talk to my brother lol, mostly because your levels are around mine and I've got all 8 badges. Yet just battling the trainers in my pokenav doesn't help enough for training: I'm too strong for them but too weak for Victory Road. There should be a better way of training in R/S/E...

PLEASE do not use Earthquake on Gyarados, unless you go farming for items with Lv90+ Linoone an pick up and extra one. EQ needs to be on your Swampert. Also don't put HM moves (not called Surf) on your main team. For field purposes, get yourself an HM slave (Tropius and Wailmer are wicked awesome slaves, learning 5 HMs each) and pull them out of PC when they are needed. Too bad that Gyara has TWICE the Atk than it does SAtk, but has an incredible array of special moves. Plus having Swampert makes Gyara a bit redundant. I would go with an Electric-type instead. Magneton or Lanturn are the best in the region, but you cannot get Chinchou until after the E4, and you need to abuse Thunderbolt there. Manectric is a good alternate.

    Torkoal:

Quite frankly, yes. Fire-types are over-rated and unnecessary, IMO. They only occupy the slot of a stronger and more effective Poke. Every single type that is weak against Fire, is also weak to either Ice or Fighting. Add the fact that Fire-types is also weak to Water and Ground (two of the most abused move types in the game) and you can see that Fire-types are best to look at and not use. What I would use instead is a Ghost-type like Dusclops. It is a little more difficult to train, but it has great defenses and can stall while you heal your other Pokes.

    Swellow:

Any advice?

First, I would highly suggest you not give a Poke more than one attacking move of the same type (i.e. AA and Fly). That is redundant and prevents your Poke from being more versatile. I would definitely suggest Skarmory over Swellow, but it is built more for competitive/BF play than in-game. Crobat is one arse mutha in-game. It outspeeds all but 2 or 3 Pokes, one of which (Mewtwo) you will not see in-game. Use this moveset:

    - Aerial Ace
    - Confuse Ray
    - Shadow Ball
    - Sludge Bomb

I gets STAB AA and SB (Sludge variety). CR is a nice strike-first move on a Poke and then switch out for something to finish it off. SB (Shadow variety) works against slow Psychics and Ghosts (E4).

    Swampert:
    Lv.38
    (holding Soft Sand)

    Ice Beam
    Surf
    Earthquake
    Rest/Roar

    Any advice on this one?

First, get rid of Dive and give it Earthquake. A Poke that is immune to Electric attacks and has a STAB EQ attack is simply awesome. It's only weakness is Grass, and not only does it have the stats to survive a Grass-type attack, it can also hit back with a SE IB. The last move is your preference. If you choose Rest, give it a Chesto or Lum Berry to hold to wake it right up.

    Breloom:
    Lv.40
    (holding Shell Bell)

    Swords Dance/Leech Seed
    Giga
    Drain
    Sky Uppercut
    Mach Punch

I like this Pokemon! I wish it could still learn Spore after it evolves though... :(
    Advice?

My advice would be to catch another Shroomish and train it until it learns Spore and then switch it in for this one. For this guy, go Giga over Mega, and then take a Heart Scale to Fallorbor and re-teach it Leech Seed. LS is a nice move since it still works when you switch out and heals your switched Poke too, at the expense of your opponent's HP. In this instance, without Spore, two attacks of the same type works since Mach Punch always goes first and can take out a weakened opponent.

    Gardevoir:
    Lv.40
    (holding Kings Rock)

    Psychic
    Calm Mind
    Shadow Ball/Rest/Will-O-Wisp
    Thunderbolt

Fantastic Pokemon! Probally my favourite on the team. Shadow ball is so so. I could replace it if there is something better I could teach my Gardevoir.

SB is good, but Rest or WOW can be quite effective too. Rest and Chesto/Lum Berry makes Gardy a bit tankish and WOW is a good status move. Alakazam is still a better sweeper, but Gardy works great in-game and can handle Water-types with a CM TB.

Question 1: What is the difference between Mystic Water and Sea Incence?

The difference is that MW increases Water-type moves by 10%, but SI is only 5%. They are similar in that they both suck as held items. Avoid using them and choose more effective items like Leftovers, Shell Bell, Quick Claw, or even berries like Lum, Leppa, or Sitrus.

Question 2: I noticed after my Mudkip evolved into Marshtomp (Its now a Swampert) it was holding Soft Sand which I didn't give it. How and why did this happen?

Never heard of that happening. I will assume that you got Soft Sand from the girl on the beach at Slateport, gave it to your Mudkip and then forgot you did that.
Just remember that to beat the E4, you need to abuse Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Shadow Ball/Earthquake, and Sky Uppercut.

Actually, you are giving Thunder too much credit. It is only 70% accurate and its AP is 120, while Thunderbolt is 100% accurate and its AP is 95. So while the power is slightly less with TB, it is far more reliable. I always suggest TB over Thunder unless Kyogre is involved. I don't like the Rain Dance/Thunder combo because it takes one turn to RD before you can use it. The end result is one attack of 120 AP that takes two turns or TWO attacks of 95 AP for a total of 190 AP in those same two turns. Thunder is just not worth it. Go with TB.

BTW - the same goes with Blizzard and Fire Blast. Go with Ice Beam and Flamethrower instead, whenever possible.

    Thanks for the advice shane.

I probally should have emphasised that I like to use Pokemon I favour over the ones who can thrash everything.
So I'm keeping Gyarados, at least for now.
I don't really like Dusclops much.

I think your right about the Soft Sand thing. Must have just slipped my mind...

I'll use Tropius and Wailmer for HM slaves as you suggested. I already use a Zigzagoon for Cut and Rock Smash. It just gets really annoying to switch around my team all of the time. :(

I hate Golbat but love Crobat. Its just a shame that Zubats so utterly useless early on else I would train one more often.

I often train up a Salamence or a Flygon probally with movesets like these:

    Salamence:

    Fly/Aerial Ace
    Dragon Dance
    -
    -

    Flygon:

    Crunch
    Earthquake
    Sandstorm
    -

    Are they worth bothering with?

    BTW how could I forget?
I use this Pokemon when travelling around the water areas by switching Torkoal with it (since Torkoal is useless against Water).

    Magneton:

    Lv. 40
(holding Smoke Ball) <- I will replace this

    Spark
    Sonic Boom
    Thunder Wave
    Lock On

Keep in mind that all the good Pokes typically have first evolutions that basically suck. Complain about Zubat, but remember what your Gyarados evolved from. Doesn't get a whole lot more useless than that. Then there is Beldum. Good Lord. Only learns ONE move until it evolves into Metang at Lv20. Of course it eventually evolves into one of my favorite Pokes. Flygon and Salamence are definitely worth training, especially Sala. See my above statement.

Excellent choice on using Maggie, but stay away from Lock On. Go with Thunderbolt and maybe Toxic for a damaging status move.

    Good luck.

Will-O-Wisp is a Fire-type moves that Burns its victim, and inflicts damage every turn it stays in play.
