3rd Gen Your Pokémon Team

Status
Not open for further replies.
My team is

Swampert
lvl 56
Role = Dragon/Grass/Fire Destroyer

Earthquake
Take Down
Blizzard ( going to be ice beam soon)
Surf ( much more better than Hydro pump because of a higher pp and acuarcy)

Alazamam
lvl 54
Role = Water/ Fighting Destroyer

Shock wave ( I need a thunder or thunder bolt)
Physcic
Recover
psybeam ( this one might be replaced with another move)
Physcic

Sharpedo
lvl 38 (in training)
Role = Ghost/ Fire Destroyer

Scary Face
Crunch
Surf
Slash

*note this is not the moveset that my sharpedo is going to have when it is fully trained

My team (nearly at the Elite Four) are:

Pidgeot (Flight)
Charizard (Flame)
Tangela (Viny)
Hypno (Hyper)
Onymaster (forgotten nickname)
Riachu (Sparkle)

All the above Pokemon are at level 46-47.

Could somebody rate/fix my Sapphire lv100 BattleTower Team?

Latias (Special Sweeper)
Item: Soul Dew
- Dragon Claw
- Safeguard
- Thunderbolt/Calm Mind

- Recover (Self-explainitory)

First off, please include natures, as they are VERY important to the makeup of your team. Latias is a special sweeper, not a wall. It has too many weaknesses to save you from much. DC is bar-none the best move for Latias and since it has no resistances, trumphs Psychic as well. Safeguard is MUCH better than Refresh. Safeguard protects your entire team from ALL statuses, while Refresh just heals if it gets statused. Thunderbolt to easily take down bulky waters that have Ice Beam. You can use CM instead, but takes more to set up and Soul Dew is like a free CM anyway.

Skarmory (Physical Wall)
Item: Leftovers
- Rest
- Spikes
- Substitute
- Whirlwind

Skarmory is a WALL, and won't be damaging a lot of different Pokes any time soon. The Roar/Spikes set is outdated. SubSkarm is incredibly, although Skarmory isn't very useful in-game since the AI is pathetic. NEVER use Fly. It is a horrible move. Use Drill Peck or Aerial Ace, if you must. NEVER use Normal moves on non-Normal Pokes. Personally, Umbreon would be a much better fit here.

Blaziken (Yeah...)
Item: Leftovers
- Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Overheat
- Rock Slide
- Sky Uppercut
- Swords Dance

Don't use Blaze Kick. There are three better Fire moves you can choose from. SU >>> BB. Again, Normal moves not very effective here. RS covers its HUGE Flying weakness and SD beefs up its Atk quickly.

Why did I pick these three? Well I did some studying and comparrisons, and I found out that these three together have at least one resistance to every type except rock. Hoo Hah!

Blaziken is not a good choice here. You are better off with the MUCH better Swampert. It covers that Rock weakness EXTREMELY well, not to mention Ice and its Immunity to Electric. Plus, it hits VERY hard with Earthquake and takes down certain threats with Ice Beam. Curse is an Egg move, so you can choose Surf or even Rock Slide. Swampert is the god of the starters.

Swampert @ Leftovers/Shell Bell
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Curse/Surf
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Rest/Surf/Rock Slide

*Yeah I know, not very creative, any other ideas?
**Went against Starmie who maxed out DoubleTeam, it actually hit once in a while... as opposed to slash
And that, my friend, should prove what a crappy move Double Team is.

Here it goes:

Raichu- Lvl 57- Hasty Nature

Thunderbolt

Thunder

Focus Punch

Slam

Crobat- Lvl 59- Naughty Nature

Wing Attack

Shadow Ball

Confuse Ray

Fly

Swampert- Lvl 66- Gentle Nature

Surf

Blizzard

Earthquake

Dive

Salamence- Lvl 57- Timid Nature

Headbutt

Dragonclaw

Rock Smash

Dragonbreath

Dusclops- Lvl 63- Brave Nature

Confuse Ray

Shadow Ball

Future Sight

Mean Look

Delcatty- Lvl 43 (training)- Naughty Nature

Faint Attack

Ice Beam

Heal Bell

Double Edge

Ok thx, shanecdavis! Sounds Great!

Oh, and if it will change your opinions at all:

Latias(s) = Hasty/Quirky (I really want a Timid one, but I can find one anywhere)
Skarmory = Jolly
Blaziken = Well, I guess we dont need to worry about him...

I tried posting this once, but I kept getting a db error. Oh well, here we go again.
yah get a dodrio NOW. fearow is so crappy.

well, i don't really have much of a team anymore on LG since i started over for D/P, but i do have my initial team that i used to beat the elite four.

i would post them, but i just want some suggestions for my blastoise. it seems all i use him for is surf, and yet, he's my strongest poke.

Blastoise LV 77 (Mystic Water)
-Surf
-Bite *trying to get rid of this... maybe for ice beam*
-Strength *yah i know, but it's always been a tradition ._.*
-Hydro Cannon *i know many are not fond of this move, but it comes in handy*

ice beam doesn't seem necessary with blastoise for some reason. it's a shame wartortle doesn't learn crunch >/
Blastoise @ Leftovers
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Rest/Protect

- Surf

Pretty self-explanatory.

thank you shanecdavis a lot. I took what you said a little bit into consideration and I then made the following changes to my team:

I gave hitmonchan the boot and replaced him with:

Growlithe Lv. 21
Roar
Flamethrower
Leer
Odor sleuth(whatever that does)

yes I know I need to work on growlithe's moveset ALOT

That saves me from having to say it. I still think Alazakam or Gengar would be a MUCH better choice here.

I think the movesets you made for my team are awesome except for that venusaur has no attacking grass moves!!

Venusaur is a defensive Poke and doesn't need an attacking Grass move. Its job is to stall.

All the other pokemon are great though. The only thing is I don't know where to get all those moves!! Thats okay, though. I guess they learn all of them naturally; if not i'll use tms.

My suggestions are not easily come by. Great movesets take effort. Most noobs don't want to put out the effort and just throw on crap moves instead. The movesets are up to you.

Another change I've made is that for my final pokemon, I chose

Jolteon Lv. 25
Thunderbolt
Sand attack
Shock Wave (yes, it almost stinks but it is awesome if a foe uses sand attack or double team)
Quick attack

Post and tell me what you think please!!!!

P.S. My Ivysaur evolved!
Jolteon is a bit too one-dimensional, especially if you are not going to take advantage of its speed and use the Agility/Baton Pass/Substitute/Thunderbolt version. Lapras or Jynx would be a much better option.

oh geez, i completely forgot blastoise could learn earthquake. thanks shane!

my emerald team is
mew lv56
mewtwo lv90
rayquaza lv100
groudon lv70
kyoga lv70
jirachi lv100

I have a couple of strong teams in Ruby and LG, but the members are more or less all sweepers. And hacked. I am now playing Ruby, starting work on my ULTIMATE team. All legit, non-hacked, and deadly. If all goes well this team will have no problem pwning all teh n00bs and l337s alike:

Shiny Latias:
Item: Soul Dew (duh!)
Nature: Quirky
Moves: Dragon Claw, Psychic, Recover, Thunderbolt

Aerodactyl:
Item: Choice Band/Liechi Berry
Nature: Trying for Jolly/Adamant
Moves: Double-Edge, EQ, Rock Slide, Aerial Ace

Shiny Suicune (Still hunting):
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Whatever it is when Shiny (Preferably Bold/Calm)
Moves: Surf, Calm Mind, Rest, Ice Beam

Umbreon:
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Trying for any which favors Def/SpDf
Moves: Mean Look, Confuse Ray, Toxic, Wish/Moonlight

Dusclops:
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Trying for Careful/Impish
Moves: Shadow Ball, Curse, Rest, Toxic

Blaziken
Item: Salac Berry
Nature: Trying for Quirky/Bashful/Docile
Moves: Flamethrower/Blaze Kick, Sky Uppercut, Rock Slide, Mimic

Rate out of 10 and offer advice. (Note that I will not risk putting the Endure+Reversal combo on Blaziken.)

I haven't beaten the Elite 4 yet...but:

Swellow lv50
Azumarill lv40
Linoone lv43
Swampert lv52
Groudon lv49
Wailord lv43

i just got emerald like 4 days ago but i got like 26 hours on it XD. so anyway here meh tema for emrald

sudowoodo: 41
golbat:42
absol: 43
dusclops: 40
altaria: 40
lapras: 45

is it me or is it really hard to train your pokemon in this game??

Here is a quick question for any of you out there. I want to own all the pokemons in my emerald version. However, I can't seem to get any of my fireyred/leafgreen, Ruby and Sapphire pokemons that I've captured that arn't in the Emerald Version. I don't know what else to do. When I tried to trade, it's like the links cable isn't working or something. These were brand new and they still won't let me save. It's keeps saying please wait until we get a link and I wait for hours. I tried it with my silver and gold to transfer into Crystal and managed to do it just fine.

Does anyone else have advice for me. Oh by the way, no one here that I know are fans of pokemon so it's hard to trade with other peoples.

You have to get the National Pokedex in your Emerald version before you can trade non-Hoenn Pokes from your other carts.

BTW - This should have been asked in Simple Questions, not here.

Back on topic now. . . .

Heres my team
Swampert (lv. 90)
Flygon (lv. 87)
Beautifly (lv. 89)
Salemence (lv. 85)
Espeon (lv. 84)
Milotic (lv. 89)

Might as well give a rundown of my Primary Team on Emerald

Sableye(female) Lv 62
Name: Diamond
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Keen Eye
Moves: Shadow Ball, Faint Attack, Confuse Ray, Night Shade
Notes: This is the weakest of my team at the moment. Has proven useful in my battles but also gets flatten quickly

Umbreon(male) Lv 64
Name: Twilight
Nature: Sassy
Trait: Synchronize
Moves: Confuse Ray, Faint Attack, Toxic, Moonlight
Notes: This member is the only one I bred and is also one of the two I started training after completeing the game. Twilight is a difficult pokemon to train but also is quite tough. If Twilight goes down in less than three hits, I know that i'll be in big trouble.

Lanturn(female) Lv 63
Name: Quantom
Nature: Relaxed
Trait: Volt Absorb
Moves: Thunder, Confuse Ray, Rain Dance, Surf
Notes: Quantom has proven her worth in boith single battles and team ones. With enough time, she has been known to take down quite a few pokemon down. However quite vunerable to damage sometimes

Sceptile(male) Lv 62
Name: Cal
Nature: Quirky
Trait: Overgrow
Moves: Aerial Ace, Leaf Blade, Giga Drain, Flase Swipe (only on to catch pokemon atm)
Notes: Cal is probably my most unimpressive pokemon on my team. I have a lot of doubts when it comes to his strength.

Flygon(male) Lv 63
Name: Mirage
Nature: Mild
Trait: Levitate
Moves: Crunch, Dragonbreath, Strength (needs to be replaced), Earthquake
Notes: Mirage was for a long time a weak member of my party until he evolved to a Flygon :) Was instremental in defeating the Elite 4, and only recently I managed to level up my other pokemon to his level. At one point, Mirage was 10 levels ahead of my other team members

Ninetales(female) Lv 62
Name: Soulflame
Nature: Lax
Trait: Flash Fire
Moves: Flamethrower, Will-O-Wisp, Secret Power, Attract
Notes: Soulflame replaced an old team member, a Delcatty named Leon after I saw a need to include something to crush steel pokemon. My favourite pokemon on my team personally. Has proven to be decent in battle but isn't one of my more powerful members

ill list the moves later but i have:

blaziken (inferno)
flygon (zero)
walrein (glacia)
altaria
aggron
mightyena

What is an example of a balanced fire red team? And please don't tell me an all legendary team is a good one!

That really depends on how you play the game. If you only battle the weak AI that doesn't switch out and is ridiculously predictable (since it has to be so a 6-year old can beat the game), all you have to do is cover your type weaknesses. Virtually any collection of 6 Pokes will be successful, as long as not too many share the same weaknesses.

If you are battling against others, or are considering going the WiFi route with DS/DP, you are better off with a balanced team that consists of physical sweepers, special sweepers, a physical wall (a defensive Poke that can take physical hits easily), a special wall, and a cleric (a Poke that can heal teammates and/or cure statuses). Your team is organized more by their base stats than their type.

BTW - No, lengendaries do not make balanced teams. They cause teams to be unbalanced and are a crutch for people that aren't good enough to battle otherwise.

Ninjask
Blaziken
Tyranitar (Mr. T)
Metagross
Salamence (Saphira)
Scizor

All at Lv. 100.
