Brings up a fundamental phenomema of Pokemon: evolution. Depicts Pokemon evolving in a time of need in the anime. Evolves after a battle sometimes, such as in the games. Changes after trading, for some bizarre reason. Created a variety of other ways over the years too. Suppresses it in some instances as well. Will not even go into Mega Evolution.
How do you view evolution? What really makes a Pokemon evolve? Do you think a Pokemon could evolve in multiple different ways (besides Pokemon with split evolution paths)?

Normally thought of evolution as a result of circumstance. Needs more power. Grows to become that. Questions that, upon thinking about it. Could be more of an emotional change. Points to something like Shelgon's and Salamence's Ultra Moon Pokedex entries.
Could view trade evolutions in that light. Feels bad from being pawned off. Triggers a physical change in the Pokemon.

Simply evolves via Ice Stone in Paldea, however.
Imagines Pokemon being able to evolve by multiple means. Triggers that evolution easier via some means than others. Ought to be able blast your Crabrawler with dozens of Blizzards to make it evolve. Could battle with Slowpoke a lot...or just get Clamped by a Shellder. Evolves Finizen by maxing out Friendship with all the Pokemon in your party or by doing the Union Circle thing.
